So, Im gonna Level with you here. In the Last Post I said that I already Have some Experience with 3D modelling, which is true, BUUUT... because I didn't make stuff for video games, I never actually used textures. Ive always just used procedural materials and high poly sculpting, which looked good in renders, but would be to resource intensive for game engines to use.
I had some basic Idea on how UV-mapping works, but Ive never done it to a meaningful extent, and especially not when working within the confines of a (ancient) game engine.
But, after (re)learning yet another essential part of Blender, I eventually got the hang of it and I think The Result came out quite nicely.
Not Important but Fun:
The Entire Thing uses only a single texture for all metallic parts. And about 80% of any Dwarven Dungeon uses the very same one. Kinda impressing on how Beth Managed to create such a versatile image file.
Whats next?
The Base Model is Finished, and this was without a doubt the most time consuming part of the Project. Now I need to work on the Transform controllers which are used to control Moving parts of World Objects. (Yes, there will be moving parts in this thing.)
After that's Done, it will be time for Character Animations and the Scripting.
Anims should be comparatively simple this time, and the scripting should also be somewhat simpler then for the Hanger. I will need to do some testing to get the FX effects right, but there are enough examples in the Base game, so I don't expect any major Roadblocks anymore.
I also do realize that I'm taking my sweet time (again) with new updates, and I really need to thank you (again) for being so patient with me.
I´m really Lucky that I can take my time and wait for new Ideas and inspirations to come, rather then having to force out something just for the sake of uploading.
With that said, I´m gonna do my very best to upload an Initial version of this Device next week. It will likely lack a lot of the planned features, but I want to at least give you something you can use to get a basic feel for the Final product, or something to use for the screen-archers out there.
Stay tuned :)
