2021-12-27 02:40:04 +0000 UTCPaul is 15 when Dune starts. The comment Duncan Idaho made about Paul putting on a little muscle was about Paul being in a growth spurt. Also, I believe part 2 is slated for release in 2023. I believe the faint voices we were half-hearing weren't truly meant to be understood, more for effect. They say real things, relevant to the plot, but I don't think you lose anything by not understanding. Those voices aren't for us, they're for Paul. There's a reason Paul "hears" voices, but I don't want to go into it since you haven't read the books.

2021-12-27 02:33:21 +0000 UTCAlso, you mentioned the Bene Gesserit plotting for "centuries" to produce someone like Paul; they've actually been aiming to produce someone like him for thousands of years. It's been over 30 years since I read the books, so I looked it up -- apparently it was about 10,000 years from the beginning of their breeding program to get to Paul, but he was never meant to exist. Lady Jessica was meant to produce a daughter, and that daughter would be the next step to The One. Duke Atreides wanted a son, and Jessica, being in love and wanting to please him, deliberately had a son for his sake, in defiance of the Bene Gesserit.

There is/was/will be a time in the history of (future) humanity where humanity rose up against "thinking machines," and they're basically not allowed anymore (though it's not straightforward), so they've bred and trained humans to do what electronic computers used to.
