Brilliant.

This was a brilliant show. It's unique among detective shows in that you're shown the whole crime right up front. So, you know (with one notable exception) how the episode is going to end. Watching Columbo manipulate the perpetrator to eventually build the case against them is exquisite. I love when he's at lunch or dinner with someone and hardly, if at all, touches the food. Awesome.

Funny Story: The famous Columbo car sat on the backlot of Universal Studios for over 25 years come to find out they were still paying rent on that car. When Universal asked if they could keep the car, the original owner saod no and he took it back. It's estimated they paid over a million dollars in rental fees for that car.

Oh, just one more thing...

My mom was a huge Columbo watcher. I remember the first time I saw the movie The Great Race (Natalie Wood, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon) and saw him as Jack Lemmon’s sidekick. It was the first non-Columbo role I think I saw him in and my young brain took a little bit to understand he wasn’t going to be solving a crime that time around.

We watched, as a family, on Sunday night at my grandparents house.

Check out “Poker Face” on Peacock, it’s got a real Colombo vibe

Legend! Loved watching Columbo growing up. And as the son of a Peugeot-owning father, I always made sure to take note of his worn out Peugeot 403 cabriolet and felt a slight kinship with his awkward and avant-garde personality 😁

Cool

That was such a fun show. You always knew when to pay attention when as he was leaving a suspect he turned back and said, “Oh, one more thing” and then ask a question that cemented the case for him. LOL

We watched it on Sunday night. If i remember correctly Columbo was part of the Sunday night mystery movie that came on after Disney. It rotated between mc millian and wife, McCloud and possibly one other detective character.
