Carnival strippers
Added 2021-03-15 18:59:07 +0000 UTCI got this book some years back and left it in illinois when I moved from chicago to PR but couldn’t seem to locate it after the move so I finally ordered another.
This is a rare book so it’s difficult to find and quite costly even though it originally sold for only $15 when it was printed.
Carnival strippers is a stroll down the more road worn, and often times, less posh side of burlesque on the Midway.
You can find it on eBay and probably Amazon. It will cost into the hundreds because of its rarity but it’s worth it if you want to save up for it.
It’s packed full of intimate stories and photos that titillates and entertains but also humanizes the performers and road crew.
You will find interviews in this book alongside the incredible photos. The interviews are what I really live for. There’s nothing like listening to a stripteaser talk about their profession.

I wouldn't mind getting hold of the book "Carnival Strippers." Thank you Danielle for pointing it out to us and telling us where to get it. I've only seen just one carnival hoochie-coochie stripper perform at a carnival in Poteet, Texas in 1963 and her act was totally tame with no nudity of any kind. At that time, I was told that there were other hoochie-coochie strippers who took it all off and even prostituted themselves while the local corrupt police officers were bribed to look the other way or they could get laid with the strippers for free if they wanted to.
