so much is happening but this was a beautiful and heartbreaking one 🤍🪵

A Change, Not An End - The Return Episode 15 Reaction

Comments

I never knew the actor playing Doctor Hayward was did Dad until decades later.

Shaundgb

Obviously never feed her sister when she visited her and Diane never forgave her.

Shaundgb

Very touching scenes with the Log Lady, some great lore stuff at the Convenience Store, and Sunset Blvd! And now, oh boy oh boy, here comes the finish line. Three of the best hours of television ever...

Kimmie Koneko

That Log Lady scene was nothing short of transcendent. The bravery of Catherine Coulson to film a scene about her character's impending death, shortly before her own real life passing, reminds me of what makes art so powerful. I'll never forget it and will carry it with me.

Matthew McClain

Haven't finished watching the reaction but that loud "F***!" at 26:00 was hilarious because sometimes these revelations really are hitting that hard XD

bennymakesgames

One of the creepiest ends to part of The Return when the credits are running in what looks like that creepy motel area. I think that creepy woman is in the background.

Shaundgb

I know you'll have finished watching then so a while ago, but I'll save my Audrey comments until it's all "explained". Can definitely recommend everyone watch I Know Catherine, The Log Lady which really shows what an incredible woman she was, right up until the end.

Jamie

Hard disagree. I think they're the worst. A load of wholly unnecessary background detail to try and bring order to Lynch's "chaos". they're basically the anti-FWWM.

Jamie

No wonder why original Duge Jones so fat—his wife just feed him cake.

Red Maru

Kind of funny since Bowie was British

Red Maru

Lynch reached out to David Bowie to come back as Phillip Jeffries but he was too sick to do it, hence why he got turned into a tea kettle. He passed in 2016.

Dusty Hill

Are you going to listen to the Mark Frost audiobooks? You have to listen to them in order to understand a lot of what's going on. That would be a fun reaction, to the audiobooks. They're excellent and basically canon (Frost canon).

Steve Owen

Also, 2nd best actress Twin Peaks scream goes to Ruby at the Road House.

BullydogBear

She was so brave… so strong… she was a treasure.

It is really hard to watch both Albert and the Log Lady (Catherine) when you know both of them do not have much time to go. The loss of Catherine's hair reminds me of my Mum in her last few days when she passed away battling cancer. I do not know if the actor playing Albert knew he was terminally ill at this point but looking at him you can tell the signs. R. I. P all you lovely people

Shaundgb

Reminder that in S3 EP3, Cooper transports through an electrical outlet to become 'Dougie' in the Rancho Rosa Estates.

BullydogBear

I read Mark Frost was also the driver of Carl's VW bus to get into town in EP 11... not sure if it's true or not.

BullydogBear

@28:54 .... The man with the dog is none other than Mark Frost, co-creator of Twin Peaks.

Donna's sisters where really weirdly used in Season 1 & 2, and I think a lot of people barely remember Donna even had a sister, let alone two! The only reason I remembered her is because (I've re-watched Twin Peaks multiple times and because) I already knew who Alicia Witt is when Gersten was introduced. Lynch's Dune is Witt's first film credit so it's nice she had a small role in The Return, but I really wish we could have also seen the best Hayward sister: HARRIET. 😍 She was so funny in the Pilot ("Actually, now that some time has passed... I like 'the full blossom of the evening.'") that it's a crime she only appeared once after that! I don't know if you're looking for video ideas or suggestions, and this might come up either way if you're already making some kind of rankings of the characters, but I'm always really interested in what small side or supporting characters other fans wish we could have seen more of. 👀❓ In addition to Harriet, I have a soft spot for Ronette Pulaski. There's just something so tragic and sad about that character and I feel like a lot was left unexplored with her. The overly eager Great Northern Hotel concierge Louie Budway only appeared in one episode (2x04), but left a lasting impression, and IMO, would have been a really fun recurring character. 😂 (The actress, Bellina Logan, also has a small cameo in The Return, but I don't think she's supposed to be the same person?) I'm eternally sad about, not only how unimportant Annie ended up being, but appalled at how so much of the fandom seems to actually dislike her. 😢 And obviously there's Denise Bryson — an icon, a legend, the moment! But most of all, I LOVE AGENT SAM STANLEY. 😊 That man lives rent free in my head. The whole Teresa Banks investigation at the beginning of FWWM is one of my favorite Twin Peaks things ever and I always dream that it could have been a whole separate film (or a TV show) leading up to the Laura portion of the story.

ouch! this one is a bit like the chevron pattern in the Red Room! one part light side one part dark side and so on. as a matter of fact I see chevron pattern everywhere in this show. whether it's in the story or in the image or both I just see it. oh, by the way the actor with the dog is non other than Mark Frost, returning as Cyril Pons. we saw him on t.v. as a reporter after the mill burned down plus we just hear him in another episode. what a ride! can't wait for those last 3 episodes! beautiful reactions! I had a tear or two too. keep having fun!

Breaks my heart too Alex , …every time❤️😢

And to think, some 13 to 18 years before Twin Peaks, Catherine was working with Lynch on Eraserhead & he told her he envisioned a tv series for her where she'd be holding a log and the show would be called "I'll Test My Log with Every Branch of Knowledge." I've always loved the Log Lady. She's always been cool.

BullydogBear

Log Lady's phone call with Hawk gets me on every re-watch

quenginerd

Yeah I remember watching that week and then watching Sunset Boulevard immediately after for clues.

Joey Jeffrey

I've been waiting for the reaction for Wednesday (ep 16) all season. An all time banger and one of my favorite moments in the history of mankind.

Joey Jeffrey

Rewatching that scene is always so tough, rest in peace Catherine Coulson. Going through filming in that state shows how strong she was. It's so fitting how the music that plays when Hawk tells the others that Margaret passed, it's the same music from the sequence in episode 8 with Laura in the gold ball. Such a good episode, and great reaction!! I was going to mention something else, but on second thought, I don't think we should talk about Judy.

Will Yurko

Dougie turns the TV on to the movie "Sunset Boulevard" a David Lynch favorite and a direct inspiration for "Mulholland Drive." The scene where Dougie puts the fork in the outlet almost perfectly matches up with "Ruby" (Wizard of Oz again) crawling across the floor at the Roadhouse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZJ__doruW4 To go from "happy Log dancing to ZZ Top" to saying goodbye to Catherine Coulson is a tough transition. This episode was absolutely devastating.

BullydogBear

I liked that Ed and Norma being together didn’t strip Nadine of her agency. Like back when you were upset about them ending up together because she was mentally compromised. That would have been a cheap way to get them together. I never in a million years would have guessed Nadine would have been the one to tell Ed to be with Norma, but it’s kind of the most positive outcome for her. I like that in her own kooky Nadine way, it was a happy ending for her. Also, it’s kind of my own headcanon that Nadine is the new Log Lady walking around with her gold shovel. The Log Lady’s log really does turn to gold. Sadly we won’t get to hear what Catherine Coulson had to say about doing that scene because she died a week later. I think it was incredibly brave of her to do, and she was never not gonna do it. She kept the original log all these years because she knew it was going to come back.

NatalieShark

The guy with the glove does accent videos, that’s where I’d seen him before. I think this was his first role. Also, that’s Donna’s sister, Gersten, with Steven in the forest. Learned that years after I first watched this. Kind of interesting to think that Mike was also interviewing him for a job earlier on

illz Rachko

"There's some fear in letting go" Cried a river while I watched it the first time.
