July Update 4 of 4

The final July update is a title page, so you get to soak in the suspense this month!

To tide you over, here's some end-of-the-chapter "Sprawl" trivia. To date, the final page of LOG:02 is the most resource intensive page I've done. The page took up so much memory it became impossible to edit so I had to cheat a bit.

Panels 1 and 2 were put together in a separate file, flattened, then imported into the file with the full-page panel 3.

Long time readers are already aware, but I'm much further ahead on the comic than the most recently posted pages. I maintain a huge buffer so that if I get sick or life otherwise prevents me from working on the comic for a while, page updates are not affected. So I actually finished LOG:02 months and months ago and am currently well into LOG:03.

Around March/May this year I took time out from LOG:02 and added two brand new pages to LOG:01 to smooth out the story flow. These are what are now page 10 and page 23 if you go to the table of contents for LOG:01.

Liam is loosely based on a friend of mine who is a huge fan of noir detective stories. Real life Liam is actually really tall, but I wanted to play with size expectations. So "Sprawl" Liam is a housecat, therefore much shorter than Sibo who is a goat.

Yes, in this comic a character's species will influence their size relative to other characters. Su and Getta are both about 1 inch or 2.5cm shorter than Liam. Wilm would tower over Sibo and Professor Bohte. I feel I did not illustrate Wilm's size compared to the others very well in LOG:01. These species related size differences aren't 1=1 equivalent to real world size differences.

Sibo and Professor Bohte are specifically Boer goats.

The umbrellas with the lit stems are based on the light-up umbrellas from the Blade Runner movie.

While the glowing green orb's appearance in LOG:01 was a heavy-handed reference to the 1981 "Heavy Metal" movie, the comic as a whole is in part an attempt by me to create a furry webcomic that feels like you're reading an issue of "Heavy Metal" magazine. I feel I succeeded with that much more in LOG:02 than in LOG:01.

The original concept of the setting for "The Sprawl", a megacity that grew out of a colony ship on a barren planet, was developed in 1999 while I was still in art school.  At the time I wanted to create a setting then get multiple artists to each create a short comic set in that world. One of my art school friends I pitched the idea to still does furry art and his own comics today under the name GuNMouTH.
