Witchcraft and Devilry Chapter 23

Chapter 23 of Witchcraft and Devilry, in which Rias and her peerage investigate a gruesome crime in Kuoh, Harry and Hermione discuss the resurrection stone, Rias and Harry undergo the master-servant ritual, ending up with somewhat different results than they expected thanks to actions Fleur is going to have to atone for, and Hermione makes a discovery that will change her basic understanding of reality.

Someone made the language. Someone used the language. (Consider someone as plural for purposes of this comment.) When did they stop or is it still being used? And how likely is it to make the Volde-worthless mess even worse? If we're supposed to find out Rita Skeeter has some connection to the above I will be at once flabbergasted - this is an extremely silly concept on my part - and rather severely irked.

Which means we can expect some insane over reaction in a week or so in the story's timeline?

Brian Jordan

Yeah, I don't know what I thinking there. Thanks for pointing out the error.

Fun chapter and delighted by Hermione’s discovery at the end. Just one nitpick. A couple of times you alluded to catching the full moon elsewhere in a few days or so. That’s not how full moons work. When it’s the full moon, it’s the full moon for the entire earth.

I realize you imported the contract from ‘devil little sister’ or whatever the title actually is, but I like the idea. As much as devils call God a tyrant, I am 100% sure lucifer didn’t meant to create himsrlf a family, friends or equals. No, he definitively created himself a race of slaves and now that he’s gone, devils are trying really hard to pretend otherwise. Except Grayfia apparently since her family was created to specifically serve a Lucifer and she just keeps doing that. It’ll be fun when Rias finally gives in to nature over nurture.

Fleur is one of my usually one of my favorite characters, but I wouldn’t miss her if she had gotten dropped after this chapter. Super selfish and a lack of trust in Harry to do what she did.

Wait a minute. Is this hinting that the Christian God, the tyrant as the devil's call him, is Morgoth? Because if so, that's hilarious. Because the way God is described as making humanity sounds a lot like how Morgoth made the first orcs.

Loved the chapter! Fleur… you bad girl… that’s a deserved punishment for each time Rias has to suffer. But I think that this bond will bring a lot of character growth for Rias. I also love how this continues to develop and deepen the relationship between Harry and Rias. Harry thinking that this felt akin to marrying Rias made me giggle!

As always amazing chapter! I also see that you took the concept of the Master Servant Ritual from Sister New Devil and applied it here and Rias just like Mio ends up being bound to Harry just like Basara. In the end it fit the narrative really well and cleared up Fleur's remaining doubts regarding Rias and Akeno. As usual the smut scenes very well written and help bond the characters together and I even love Rias's punishment for Fleur that everytime she is in "punishment mode" then Fleur has to suffer too. That ending though is certainly something so many books written in that language I can only wonder what that will have to do with the plot as the story goes on. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Well, his brain did short-circuit, lol.

Nice. I'd feel bad for Fleur and Rias, but I imagine they're going to enjoy themselves lol. I am also surprised that we didn't have an eruption of Mt. Weasley when he learned Harry was apparently dating Luna AND Hermione lol. Great chapter.

I'm guessing Tolkien didn't make the language in this one
