POD 103 (Video): A live interview with underground psychedelic chemist Steve Gill

For those that would like to watch a video of my already posted interview with Steve Gill, enjoy.

Many thanks to Steven at Hover Pictures (hoverpictures.com) for recording, editing, and mixing.

I think I remember him writing in real time about his buust in the hive, lycaeum, or rhodium. I was just getting into chemistry and mushrooms and reading his stories about counting all the dots on the ceiling tiles over and over freaked me out. It was very obvious he was not ready to do time. Glad he made it out, had a couple chemist friends that did Fed time and came out worse for the wear. I did some jail time for drugs, but never basketball sentences measured out in months. Glad I picked mushrooms

What a legendary humourous inspiration. The childlike spirit of this guy makes me feel alive. What a great way to start the new year discovering this episode hanging with my friends Tom, Sally, and Luci.

Steve would probably benefit most righteously from a long form, multi-episode limited series. Something that included a series of live interviews over a year or two. Effectively building and refining a “stand-up” act. The presence of a live audience at the beginning of the process being beneficial in stimulating Gil’s memories of good stories (and freeing Steve to repeat stories), with the next gig seeing the inclusion & repetition of the best bits overtime to tighten them up Followed by some final studio interviews to generate the material for the limited series. This guy is extremely entertaining. With many chapters to his story. Steve’s rollercoaster of a story has single Tuesday afternoons more entertaining than the entire Tiger King saga. (Which is in no way a statement of, or comparison of those men’s character, but rather the entertainment value of the show/media) He’s an entirely relatable human, a guy from down in the trenches like the rest of us. A true American Weirdo. An (increasingly) rare specimen of an Original Individual. America’s oldest & most celebrated folk hero motif.
