Orc Boyfriend: Rogan Part One (special preview)
Added 2020-01-06 22:00:02 +0000 UTCOne evening it was dark and storming, I was rocking with Kisska who was sleeping soundly due to the rain. As I was starting to doze off myself, there was a pounding at my door. Kisska stirred, fussed, and started to cry loudly. There was another bang at the door, and when I answered I stood face to face with an Orc.
“Midwife,” he growls low. “My wife is in labor and something is wrong. Come with me now.”
“What’s wrong?” I gasp.
He shakes his head. “I am not sure.”
I had never heard an Orc’s voice break like his did. In fact, I was sure I had never heard an Orc who was scared before. “It’s ok.” I place my hand on his arm. “Let me get my things.”
He takes Kisska, holding her as I gather up my supplies and slip on a cloak. We go outside of Obresh and towards the part of the village where all the Orcs stayed. We went to the direct center of huts and I realized who I was being brought to. Buma was the chieftess of the Orcs, and the man who fetched me was Larek, the leader of Obresh.
I tended to Buma, seeing that her baby was turned. I worked all night, easing Buma and comforting her while I eased her through labor. I had to be careful and attentive or else I could risk losing not just the baby, but her as well. As the storm raged outside, it soon gave way to the sunrise. The air was crisp and the scent of wet earth filled the hut.
“It’s a boy,” I cried as the chubby baby finally came into the world. He cried, screaming, and absolutely healthy.
“My Max!” Buma whispered, exhausted from the night.
Larek took Max, holding him and taking him outside. He washed him in the rain of the morning, introducing all of Obresh to their future chief.
I took care of Buma, tending to her and making sure the bleeding stopped. I had a feeling I would be spending a lot of time with her during her recovery. Then again, I had never midwifed for Orcs before, I could be in for a surprise.
When Larek came back, I left him and Buma to bond with their son. I went to find Kisska, only to find her snoozing on the chest of a massive Orc. He was asleep too, both his hands attentively and protectively around Kisska who looked like she could fit in one palm easily.
I sighed, exhausted to the point my bones felt like dust. I laid down next to the Orc, falling asleep easily amongst the furs.
When I awoke, the massive Orc was sitting beside me, Kisska in his lap chewing on some sort of messy fruit.
“Good morning, little doctor,” he says.
