A specific recent example of the power the queen still has on this TERF island, that's been lost in the whole "Hereditary monarchy of the largest former slave-powered colonial empire in history might be racist!" thing: There were some attempts to raise the taxes on the royal estates/land/grants, but it never got parliamentary time because 'allegedly' the queen('s people) leaned on Boris and parliamentary officials to never let it be discussed by MPs. That is the monarchy's power. Once a bill has been through parliament and the house of lords (a whole other archaic nightmare) the queen basically has to sign it into law (last time the monarch refused was the 1500's and nowadays would cause a constitutional crisis), but they can nudge things they wouldn't like to become laws out of ever being given the opportunity to be discussed before anyone has the chance to object. So yea, fuck the queen.

There are a variety of solutions to that.

As an Englishman I can tell you that the royal family has plenty of power. She has a lot of influence over Prime Ministers. However, getting rid of them creates a problem in that they own most of the land in England legally, and they do not collect rent on it.

Brit here, quick correction - the Royals absolutely do not generate a profit for the UK. A lot of their "Profit" is just (voluntarily) paying taxes on land that they 'own'. Here's a good youtube video about the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiE2DLqJB8U
