Your opinion about affection degradation
Added 2023-12-27 14:15:37 +0000 UTCHi!
I'm currently doing a bit of "house-keeping", basically just improving and tweaking some existing stuff. I started to think about the affection degradation system. Currently most girls start to lose affection for you once you've been away from home more than 5 days. Although in some cases it's tied to other thing like giving flowers (Annabelle) or product delivery (Luthien). After the grace period of 5 days they lose 2-5% affection (varies for certain characters) per day.
I haven't gotten much feedback on the system, other than some asking to be able to disable it, which makes me think it might be a little too intrucive. I don't want to get rid of the system because I don't want the girls to be completely brainwashed. I much prefer them to show some jealousy and "free will". But perhaps the grace period is a bit too short? What do you think?

2024-01-01 21:50:02 +0000 UTCWhy not give us the option in the game? Let us choose to disable it or set the number of days manually (I would immediately disable it if I could, I hate it)

2024-01-01 04:57:20 +0000 UTCThere is already a built-in cheat to disable Affection decay. DM me if you want to know where it is. 😉

2023-12-29 19:06:01 +0000 UTCI think keeping the setting or adjusting for just some charakters (which know you are adventuring or are having more than one partner) is okay. If the affection is sinking you can raise it up again very fast (gifts, awe, sleeping).

2023-12-29 14:25:22 +0000 UTCi love this game and currently have access to 30 girls, but i will be honest... i only spend time with four women. after playing my usual route for awhile, i like to slip away to the castle, the dungeon, the caves, temple, or the farm and have fun playing there for a few days, but i always go back to my favs. playing the game like this makes the waning affection a real pain especially Erevi and Obeah. personally i write it off because Tinkerer can't please everyone. if i was going to ask for a favor it wouldn't be adjusting the math, but a simple toggle. does the player wish the women to have diminishing affection yes or no? i don't know how easy it would be to install maybe do it on the group or do it individually whatever is easiest. oh and the ability to hire one of Maghda's kids to fetch sheep for his mother from the farmer.

2023-12-28 18:16:59 +0000 UTCHmm i like the idea of free will and a little jealousy of the girls not bad. Perhaps some girls love each other and if the Mc not at home 😋 or some girls like to sharing the MC too.

2023-12-28 08:53:32 +0000 UTCIt's barely manageable as it is, stressful without cheat.. and yes there is a build in cheat for it. If having all girls as LI's all ya do is run around to each to keep them happy, if a new long quest comes along, which last several in-game days, You know at least 1 of the girls would be pissed when you come home from it ;-) So I vote 15 days, especially to be prepared for any future additions of the "Harem" ;-) One girl is stuck at 3 Hearts btw, forgot her name..the blond human holy warrior who keeps having babies above her maximum, in the temple ;-) With all the baby boom love she should be able to have maximum affection for the dear daddy MC, aye? :-) Happy Newyears all!! :D

2023-12-27 18:15:26 +0000 UTCI think it depends on how many more girls get added to the game. Right now it's manageable as is, but barely. 10 days actually feels too long, but if more girls are going to be added, then 10 days may eventually be perfect. I very much agree with Niels P that certain girls should not go below a certain threshold. Alice = I think Alice should be locked in at 5 hearts after she has her first kid Caleah, Oksana, Ziva = should never drop below 4 hearts after they've had their first kid Succubus = she's been written to be a daddy's girl, so she should never drop below 4 hearts Luthien = is married, so is technically not exclusive herself. Therefore she should not even have affection stats. Shakala & Sequoia = it feels like loyalty is part of their character makeup, therefore they should never drop below 4 hearts I feel like with those tweaks, then 5 days is perfectly fine. But if you're going to be adding multiple characters in the future, then a 7 or 8 day grace period might be needed.

2023-12-27 18:08:03 +0000 UTCI went for the 15 days grace period. Another option could be to have certain girls just not go beneath a certain threshhold. Sure you could use awe and pastries to fix everything, but how is that different from not wanting the girls to be completely brainwashed, except that it shifts it to literal brainwashing options in gameplay. The real problem I have is that keeping everyone content naturally is too much of a boring grindfest. I find no joy in having to do a mandatory circulation of talking to every romanced girl NPC and chosing the same dialogue options every time so that when the time comes that I DO want to initiate a sex scene with that NPC I can. Another part of the gameplay that exacerbates this issue is that certain story progressions require the birth of a child, or sometimes children or time progression of some sort. If I want to get to that part of the story, I have to choose between advancing time by sleeping and only doing the minimum of required daytime activity, or maintaining relations. It's like cookie clicker, but instead of big number get big, you get small number goes to zero unless you keep clicking.

2023-12-27 16:52:37 +0000 UTCEven the girls who would like the MC to be exclusive with them (at least at first) understand he travels around a lot. Currently you can keep all of them at or near full Affection and still have some time for new content without needing to use Awe or Special Pastries, but it requires planning out who to see in advance and a fair number of players aren't interested doing that. Some players like myself prefer to not use Awe and pastries unless necessary. But as more girls are added you'll eventually hit a point where the MC can't do that any more even with Waystones and gifts, and will have to rely on Awe and pastries. I think a 10-day grace period would be better in the long term. The only girl I can think of who should be different is Obeah, and I think for her five days rather than three would be okay.

2023-12-27 15:55:29 +0000 UTCVampire awe, moonflower cakes, and teleporters mostly make it not that big of a deal, just a minor bit of prep work, except for the black goblin girl, because you have to go fight your way through all of her zombies and convince her to come back. A longer grace period would be nice, however, to give us more time to focus on working through the new content when there's an update without getting the cold shoulder when we're working through a specific questline.

2023-12-27 14:47:25 +0000 UTCFor keep fair i think 10 days is the right choice, becouse thx to the teleporter you can sleep where Is needed when Is needed

2023-12-27 14:24:44 +0000 UTCI just spam the vampire potion(awe) and the moonflower cakes. It's not that big of a deal especially with the teleport gates. And if a girl is not to my liking (hobbit girl-ogre girl) i just dont care to be honest.
