Asset: Rocks/Leaves/Creepy Zone
Added 2020-11-03 04:23:19 +0000 UTCWent on a hike along the Dosewallips river last week, and did some scans! They were going to be for a halloween video I ended up not doing (I thought it'd be fun to put on the rokoko suit and be like a ghost or an eerie prospector or something), but I liked how the environment turned out.
I used proportional editing for all the assets to ease down the edges and make sure they can all easily blend into each other- should work real nice! Be sure to use Alt+D to duplicate (instead of Shift+D), so it stays nice and lightweight in RAM. Should work really well with the other mossy rock/plant assets, too (I particularly like the smaller river stones).

The creepy environment has volumetric haze in it, so it works a bit better in eevee. Also- I was going to dump a bunch of foliage over the shoddy tree scans, but didn't get around to it. I sort of liked how they looked in the creepy scene, though, since it kind of reads as alien/burnt trees.
Also, the steam really makes it "pop", but blender doesn't let you pack video textures, so download the steam video here and link it up on your end.

2021-04-09 15:39:50 +0000 UTCI've looked at using my iPad pro with the LIDAR scanner for them too, but they're not very detailed compared to photogrammetry with pictures.

2020-11-17 08:17:05 +0000 UTCI've got a Sony A73 I usually use, with a 14mm lens (wider seems to work better than longer, which I found a bit counterintuitive) :)

They totally took it and ran with it!! They beat the crap out of some other early humans and eventually made a spaceship! All thanks to me. I’m kinda a big deal... uh HAL.. pass the marshmallows.
