This was a special shoot for me in many ways. The cliffs overlooking the ocean a couple hundred feet above Black’s Beach in San Diego have become one of my favorite places to gaze out in awe from. As I’ve begun my fine art photography journey, this is the place that was foremost on my mind as a location I wanted to shoot at. I’ve also greatly admired Alaina’s work since I first encountered it, it's been a great point of inspiration for me. So when she was visiting SoCal last summer and we were able to arrange a shoot together at this place, it was a beautiful confluence. Alaina is an incredible artist. Her instincts and understanding of shape, form, and movement are amazing, and more than anything, I was blown away by the constant feeling of ease in her poses. These shots are from the first part of our shoot which started at sunrise. There was a thin layer of fog that created a beautiful, natural diffusion as the sun occasionally broke through to light up the succulents that were blooming along the cliffside and provided such lovely warmth and color to the whole view. More to come!
