The contrast of the dark blue background with the bright hues of the flowers and birds creates a sense of calm. It reminds me of a antique botanist's journal. The Flowers of Evil cover has an opposite effect, creating an energetic mood as Aura and anubis_phoenix181 described. However, I cannot ignore the compilation of Poe's work. I admire the complexity of its detail, but I also like how it incorporates a large amount of negative space, as though shrouding the cover in darkness. Then again, I am also a sucker for Poe. I look forward to hearing these beautiful works in your beautiful voice. A nice opportunity to dust off my poetry analysis skills (that is, if I can stay awake). π
