Behind-the-scenes #1 🎙️ What does audio editing look like?

Hey Meteors! ☄️ Today, I’m giving you a sneak peek behind the scenes. Editing is the technical side of things—it happens after recording and cleaning up the audio (basically cutting out any mistakes). In this clip, you’ll see exactly what I’m looking at while I edit and how I organize sound effects with different labels to know where to place them. I picked this one because it’s packed with SFX! If you check out the left side, you can see the name of each sound effect.

I could also make a longer video with voiceover to explain more about my process if you're interested (let me know in the comments!).

For a 30-minute audio, it usually takes me about 45-55 minutes to record, 1 hour to edit and listen through (to make sure everything’s perfect and the mistakes are gone), 2 hours to pick and add the sound effects and music, and another 2 hours if I’m making a video and need visuals. My favorite part? Recording! I love performing the script ❤️ But cleaning the audio… not so much (booooriiiing 🥱). Another thing I love is adding all the SFX and especially the music—it’s so satisfying watching everything come together ✨

Any guesses what audio this is from? 😏

Prime Time Romance ✌🏼😆

Angel

Hahhahah what are you currently reading if you don't mind me asking?

Bugiisan

Making audios, apparently 😜😉 and reading 📖

Angel

Well let see here. I can watch a good written anime series or TV shows which keep the story interesting and invest you into it and its characters and watch it for hours without any huge plot twist. I love to listen to music I can just put a single song or album on loop and enjoy it for hours, listing to your audios, so I can relax when work gets too much. That's my key on how to survive some of the shifts, and the last thing is to just grind in Final Fantasy 14 to complete a story or grind for an armor set I really like or any other game where allows me to grind for something I like it like putting in the work and get a masterpiece of story or sets and last thing i can do for hours with patienceis driving for hours so i can clear my mind. What about you Storm, what are some things which you can do for hours without being impatient?

Bugiisan

😊 💓

Angel

Haha your patience will be rewarded! This was just a little glimpse 😉

Angel

What could you do for hours without getting impatient?

Angel

Oh fun! Are you scripts still available on there?

Angel

Well spotted! This is an audio editor, not video. I use Filmora for video!

Angel

This only shows us, just how much love and creativity youre willing, to put into your videos. It is the very essence from wich this comfortable zone becomes alive so very well and why we come back to ur videos every time, when were looking for the candle that never gets forgotten to be lighten up.

Sikanda

Of course, I could say that I’m merely interested in a longer video explaining more about your process, but that wouldn’t quite be the truth: I’m dying for such a video, especially one that would include the recording process, the making of different versions like F4M/F4F, etc. In fact, I initially thought that’s what this video was about... So you can imagine the emotional roller-coaster I went through in just a few seconds when I realized the clip was already over. Last time I checked, I was still crying huge tears... hold on, let me take a look... yep, still going strong...

Nemo Zilch

The nerd in me took way too long to realize you're using Audacity. To be fair, I've ever seen it on Mac before lol.

CaptL

Thank you for all the hard work you always do on each audio Storm. I had the feeling it's taking you somewhere between 5 and 6 hours for each audio, I image the sleep aid it's taking a bit longer then than. I am not a patience person, but I find patience when I do stuff which I love, and I think it applies to everyone XD. Once again thank you for all the hard work and many hours you put in each audio because we always get a new masterpiece which help us relax and put a smile on our faces.

Bugiisan

I used to write/record scripts for GoneWildAudio and Pillowtalk back in the day, so seeing this brought back a ton of memories, super cool to see behind the curtain!

Jamie Harvey

Very interesting. Going to love these Behind the Scenes parts

Sören Dhakra

This video editor looks WAY more complex than mine. Also, I'm pretty sure this is from part 2 of your French Maid series.

Luna Rainfell

Exactly! It’s amazing how patience shows up when we’re passionate about something.

Luna

Trop de French vibes ! Et le mot "draps" dans les SFX alors que tous les autres sont en anglais 😂

Angel

The funny thing is I am NOT a patient person 😂 I absolutely have no patience when it comes to puzzles, or building furniture. But what I've noticed is that everyone actually has patience when it comes to doing something they love. We all have something we can spend hours doing and lose track of time, right?

Angel

SoldatMomokai

The amount of patience you have—what's your secret? 😂 Editing is a whole process, and I know for sure I wouldn’t last; my patience would run out in minutes! I used to edit videos for my high school projects, and I constantly asked myself why I was doing it. That’s another reason why we appreciate all the work you put in. For every perfect audio we get, there are hours of work behind the scenes. But I think the end result and the satisfaction make it all worth it. Honestly, I would love to see the magic you work behind the scenes. To my brain, what you’re doing feels like magic. ✨

Luna

I would be very interested in your commentary through all or at least parts of it. Maybe you can comment on some part of an audio creation where or why you made some decisions/choices. Nevertheless, I really appreciate your hard work you put in each and every one of your audios. Thank you so much and hope to see more soon.

Trinky

I would absolutely love to hear your commentary. (I love technical behind the scenes videos like these and was wondering when you'd post something like this). From the looks of the description, this is from part 2 of your French Maid series.

User_Unknown

Looks like the French maid video, could be wrong tho, but gosh it looks tedious so many layers 👀 this is why your audios always sound so in depth
