Butt armor finished!
Added 2023-07-29 19:42:33 +0000 UTCMy friends, this Trash Panda is finally taking shape, and it's actually starting to look quite menacing! Although the soldered SLAT armor isn't German-factory-perfect, it definitely makes a difference when compared with the thick plastic parts.
In many cases, soldering SLAT is rather easy because you're dealing with flat, rectangular pieces, and it's not hard to keep the geometry in check. Things get complicated when there are curved parts and other exotic shapes. Everything might look great when you're handling the individual soldered pieces, but once it's time to put it all together, the panels don't fit that much. Some brute force and CA will fix the issue, but there will be some imperfection. However, for me, it's an acceptable sacrifice because the PE adds a really delicate touch to the model.
All that's left is the lower side skirt SLAT, and then it'll be FINALLY ready for painting and a dedicated construction video!
