The Fox and The Hound

Comments

While this movie is no Disney masterpiece, one of the most moving endings in the studio's history is its final image of the two main characters: united yet separate, their bond destined to outlive - but never quite heal - the hurt they've caused each other.

Ryan Moore

Truth be told, I always thought that whatever breeder Amos bought Copper from, was the killer of Todd's mother. My mind at the time I imagined this, was a married couple where the husband raises and trains hunting dogs for hunting, and the wife breeds and sells puppies from the husband's hunting dogs. Something like the sheepdogs from 'Babe'. But hey, maybe I'm overthinking it.

Not to mention Amos' aim when he shot at Todd is abysmal. I doubt he had the aim necessary to shoot Todd's mother at the speed she was going. But I could be wrong.

I'm sorry I wanted to say one things right quick. I don't know how I haven't noticed before this watching of this movie. It's heavily implied that Amos Slade killed Todd's mom. But Amos Slade can't be the hunter who killed Todd's mom. The hunter who killed Todd's mom had a dog. But not just any dog. It was a dog with braying bark of a hound dog. Chief may be a hunting dog (An Old Irish Wolfhound to be exact.) But he is not the kind that makes that specific kind of bark (You can find out what Old Irish Wolfhounds' barks sound like on Youtube. They also have Chief barking in the movie and that bark is accurate.) That's the most compelling evidence I have. And even if the bark from the beginning was meant to be Chief (they use the same bark sound effect for when Copper is chasing Todd while Chief's still hurt, sooo.), I still don't think Amos killed Todd's mom. Because Tweed found Todd, then there was a transition to Amos bringing Copper home. This all happened one event after the other, on the same day, in the same hour, probably. How could Chief and Amos be out hunting when Chief was tied to the barrel and Amos was driving back from town, supposedly, after getting Copper. This changes everything about the film for me if I'm right, because I thought that Amos killed Todd's mom this whole time. That's one of the driving things that led me to hate him. But if he didn't kill Todd's mom, sure he's still not the best person, and he still kills for the fun of it but, this is something that I've assigned blame to him for. I don't know just thought it was interesting. (Since I've seen this a hundred+ times, and only just had that thought.)

Wait a minute is this your first time watching this? Did your parents show you any movies when you were young? This is one of the movies I grew up on. Along with most of the Disney classic animated movies. And the Disney Pixar films obvi. But I can't imagine someone not having seen The Fox and The Hound. It's strange to me. lol.

Oh, this is the one movie that will bring my tears on no matter what.

this movie is so adorable :) and underrated...not many of my friends saw this as kids. For me the beginning was much worse than Bambi
