Plant Food #17

Posting this a little early this weekend! Does the bridge gap seem too wide, or do people not mind it?

In other news, we're only $48 away from the first color goal! Thanks, everyone!

Competing

GrimFC

So are the vines and seaweed competing predators here or are they working together on this?

Lithoboli

Checking back in on Amber is a thing that will happen some way or another.

GrimFC

Moving back would push on the cliff as well, just in a different way. The far sides about the same height as the cliff, the top edge would hit the rock above if it slide back. If moved down, back, and THEN the sides fell that would work. I don't think that's happening in this image though, so just going with cliff wearing a bit. Or maybe the builders just cut into the bridge a bit, I don't... think.. we've seen the part of the cliff these sides would initially be pressing into. Magical self-repair was more of an aside, as noted that wouldn't explain the bridge stuff anyway since it would be wearing at the cliffside. It just would have likely been used in the bridge's construction, and magic items try to maintain their original state over time. Crafting using magical materials, or already rune'd stuff, requires the crafter be able to suppress/negate this trait until after changes are made. Well, I guess with runes someone extremely skilled could skip that step and just try working quickly followed by.. *blathers on*

Will we see more of Amber? I mean, she technically wasn't done yet...

Or the bridge halves could simply move back a little bit before descending. Mechanically not a big deal, and it would work better than magic and magical self-repair.

Mandarion

Hrm, it would put pressure on the outer sides. I suppose there would be some wear and tear where the bridge halves meet the far sides. The rest of the mechanisms could just be designed to handle the slight outward push. There is most definitely some magic involved in the bridge's construction, which would explain slow self-repair (all magic items exhibit that trait in the world this is taking place on), but the cliff edges it meets probably aren't magical. If we ever have a close-up of the far edges of the bridge we'll keep this in mind, thanks!

Magic!

??? How do the bridge halves start descending if, when the bridge is "up", they press against one another flat in the middle?

Up, up, and AWAAAAY!
