This talks about things I consider when trying to make a workplace that is both efficient and comfortable from a human factors perspective; in other words, if putting a shelf in one spot would feel intrusive or crowded, I try to figure out where might be better so that we don't feel like the walls are closing in on us. Beyond that, this video is just going through some organizational stuff, where we donate broken or 'expired' hardware, and general policies on trying to min-max our spaces to keep a lean operation focused on content. I personally put a lot of time into thinking about how to arrange the work spaces so that it doesn't feel like it's crowded, and all of us here have learned (through experience) how much better it feels to work in a place that's organized. Back at the house, it was so crowded that it really felt not just physically cramped, but mentally cramped, but I think that forced us to get good at figuring out how to store important stuff and how to get rid of unnecessary stuff. Sticking to my desire to mostly recycle or reuse things, most of our ewaste fortunately can go to educational facilities that teach technology education or can go to metal recyclers. We talk about that briefly as well.
Filmed this around Jan 3 or so.
