Colorado could become 3rd state to ban police from lying to kids during interrogations

Years ago a read a 4 part expose on the Washington Post on how the Prince George County police were getting "confessions." Some people had been questioned for 48 hours straight. Literally getting bread and water, no sleep. After that amount of torture, and sleep deprivation, you'll agree to anything to get out of there. One such instance was with a mentally challenged teenage boy. They also had officers wearing a Harvard sweatshirt pretend to be the "On-Duty Lawyer" who would talk with anyone that invoked their right to an attorney. If they said they didn't do it, he would advise them to "confess" and their innocence would come out in court. "Confession" is "evidence" of guilt, and retracting a confession is further evidence of guilt. When a prosecutor moved into criminal defense, he was getting clients that confessed on the advice of "Mr. Harvard," a fabrication he had dismissed when he was a prosecutor. When they questioned the police, Mr. Harvard disappeared. Literally, do not talk to the police without a lawyer. Anything you say, even when you're not a suspect and just trying to be helpful, can be used against you.
