Yesterday's mildly depressing subject aside -
Merry Christmas And Happy Holidays to Ya'll! <3 <3 <3
Now, here's something I've had on mind for quite a while, looking at my own art from the year - commissions, the few months of Dune, my incidental Gundam series... Basically, 9 out of 12 drawings from the "summary of art" in the header of this post were the things I've either actually asked for someone to commission me, OR was incredibly happy to get commissioned because of how near and dear the subject was to my heart. The last 6 month in particular were just me tweeting something like "boy, would I really love to draw Corum/Severian/Big Barda" and one of you kind goofs hitting my DMs saying "i got you!" And this, ladies, gentlemen and NB people, is the synergy I wish to strive to even more in the next year.
Also, I really need to make my commission work a bit sparser so I could concentrate more on my personal projects and comics, while (admittedly) still strongly depending on this page for my monthly income. And so (this is the bad news, I guess?): commission art will become more expensive sometime in February. But, if you have a term for an A3/A4 art piece already started, don't worry - we will fulfill it as it is now, and any of changes will apply to commitments started in 2021.
Now, here are some loose ideas for the new stuff I'd like to bring to this page:
1) First Knife tier: as we continue working on the project (and also, as we still have a lot of materials from vol 1 to expand on in patreon format), I'm thinking about creating a higher tier for chronicling the series' development. But also, me and Simon might want to create a separate Patreon for the book? Who knows how this thing will go next year, really.
2) Zines tier: this tier should help me find time for my semi-regular fanart (Dune/Nausicaa/Gundam... Dorohedoro?) sessions. I want to keep this tier on the lower side of investments for you, but with physical art as your reward in the end. it seems that r*ffles are against Patreon rules, so I won't be selecting any random patrons to give away art or anything like that. Instead, you just jump on the tier, and every few months some of the art produced for my future zines becomes yours. The art itself would probably be random, bug you are guaranteed to get it, and you pick the franchise you like in advance.
3) Art Recreation tier: this tier will probably exist on equal terms with usual A3 commissions, while A4 commissions will be mostly gone in 2021. But the "art recreation" idea has been jibing with me really well after few of the recent pieces I did (the Kirby pieces specifically): you pick a cover or a comic page from my loose list of the things that I (and, naturally, you) love dearly, and we make a recreation/interpretation of it, something like a traditional comics cover homage, that recent DKR #1 recreation project, or maybe something looser and wilder. A friend recently joked about "Bartkira, but it's Dorohedoro and it's all Artyom" and I was like "hell yes, king". So, think about this one, maybe ;)
4) Art Project tier: one of the higher tiers, and the most flexible one. You can use it if you want some of the lower tier rewards paid for earlier - or if you want to work on something very specific together. For example, right now I'm discussing a possibility of working on a personal Tarot card deck for a guy, and 1-2 cards per every 1-2 months seems like a perfect pace with the regular Patreon payments going towards it.
5) General Lotsa Money tier: using this tier, you can just snatch a few reward tiers from any of the previous tiers at the same time. For example, you've just got a promotion or an inheritance, and now you want a bigger commission AND a Dune drawing from time to time? Let's calculate some stuff together and put you on this tier.
And that's it - for now, because my head is dizzy, haha.
Some of those tier ideas could be merged, some - dropped, but right now I just want to run all these by you in advance. I will probably make some polls later, too, but for now just let me know what do you think about these rough ideas! And stay safe and warm out there.
