The name of the "sexy father" is Nie MingJue, titled Chifeng-Zun, which means "Red Bade Master" (I really wonder why they translate some titles in the subtitles and others in Chinese). Also, I don't know if you remember this, but he's an older brother of Nie HuaiSang, the silly WWX's friend with a fan.

LWJ, who was in charge of punishments in Gusu because he knew the rules and never even thought about questioning them, is now questioning one of the essential ones. "Do not befriend evil." Brian, you said it beautifully: "Lan Zhan already senses the darkness in WWX, but he still wants to believe in the good in him." He sees what WWX is doing; he knows it's against all of his rules, and that would mean he's bad, but he knows in his heart that he isn't. And because the rules would label him as bad, he starts questioning the rules.

So you can focus on it in the future when he doesn't give an answer; every time he looks down, he's agreeing.

In this world's mythology, their cultivation ("powers") is based on their qi energy (energy from living that they can get more of thanks to certain practices like meditation) that's accumulated in their golden cores. The swords are tools that help with cultivation, just like other things that are sometimes specific for certain clans, like the zther (guqin) for the Lan Clan. Without their swords, their cultivation can never be that strong, so the fact that WWX has to give up his sword and doesn't bear it with him is extra suspicious. It means he doesn't need it anymore. That he's using something else to cultivate. When WWX hears LWJ talk to YanLi about swordsmanship being the only proper method to cultivate qi energy, he gets so angry because he knows LWJ figured out what he's doing and is afraid that he told his sister. But LWJ is loyal and loves him; he can be angry with him, but he would never tell his secrets to anybody (just like he didn't tell them to Lan XiChen when he asked him earlier).

"Chenqing" (the name WWX gave to his flute) means "setting forth one's thoughts and explaining one's actions". The change in WWX's personality is so obvious even in the way he's naming his things now vs how he was naming them before. The reason, why he didn't let his sister to touch his flute wasn't because she physically couldn't (like with Zidian, which btw literally means "purple lightning", which let's just certain people touch it) but because he's possessive about it.
