E6000 Adhesive and painting details

We all love hot glue here. I recommend reading up on what Ive written on hotglue materials here to make sure youre buying good stuff! However, it does often have a limited life when clients are using fursuit spray with isopropnyl alcohol in them.

A solution I have been testing is using e6000 to create a stronger bond that isnt broken as easily with alcohol. I will be experimenting with contact cement soon as well, and writing up on it. For a personal suit that you plan to lovingly take care of, hot glue should work just fine. But with how rough some of my clients are on their suits, the switch seemed necessary for all on face details.

One thing to note is that e6000 needs a full 36 hours to cure. Anything less and you might as well skip this altogether. Patience pays off in fursuit making. I recommend having 2 projects going at once in order to allow yourself to be patient.

Please wear a respirator when working with e6000. It is toxic to breathe.

Step 1:  Shave the surface down to where you want it, or cut it short.

Step 2: Apply the glue using a thin paint brush to both the thing you want to glue and also the place you want to glue it to. VERY carefully. Example Below:

Step 3: firmly apply pressure to get it where you want it. e6000 isnt like hot glue, it wont immediately stick, so you may need to utilize pins or clips to keep it in place.

Step 4: Leave for 36 hours minimum, test the bond and repeat on any weak areas.

I hope this helps! Ill try to do some more testing with contact cement, e6000 and also fabritac in the future.
