Jujutsu Kaisen - S2E18 Uncut Early Access Reaction

Love the little details in this one. When Yuji is remembering all the conversations at the start one of the last things is Nanami saying If you continue forward as a Sorcerer you'll see friends die and asks if he is ready for that. Then later when Mahito says some dumb shit Yuji asks if those are his last words, which instantly makes him remember Nanamis last words and he uses them to readjust his focus. Which is great because we saw Nanami second geuss those final words multiple times, "no I can't say that it'll be a curse on him." and he starts to talk and stops a couple times while his expressions swing back a forth between content and not ready to stop fighting. Also the detail of the lighting in the hallway fight is very cool, as the big blob soul wall changes shapes the lighting changes dynamically as the spots where the lights are in the ceiling are covered. We see the whole hall go dark as the meat moves past the center of the hall and then Mahito lights up the narrow dark corridor with purple energy. Very sick.

Amazing episode, I can't get enough of the voice acting between Yuji and Mahito when Yuji first enters that rage from seeing Nanami get popped. Glad you see why we pushed so hard for you to continue the show during those down moments lol.

Honestly the score in this episode is fucking amazing. The entire sequence with Nanami is a masterpiece. Nearly brought me to tears rewatching it ngl. Oh and his voice acting...chills

Thats why this half of season 2 is so good man, everybodys technique and the base power system has already been explained and its just a hands throwing marathon. Whenever a new technique does get explained from now on its supposed to be a pretty big reveal, not just basic exposition or world building anymore. So i think the next season will really flow for you.

Great reaction as always, Nanami was my favourite character so this episode was brutal. Mahito just continues to slowly break down yuji's mental state and like you said, a regular trope in a main character is the fall down-get back up, relentless determination but mahito really pushes yuji right to the brink of madness. He's a special grade prick but thats what makes a great villain

Really happy seeing you come around on the show in this second season :). I think you're spot on when you said that a lot of us could more easily overlook the tonal shifts to the more immature/silly moments because we knew what was coming further down the line. I personally enjoyed them because I'd read the manga and knew what was going to happen in Shibuya in s2, and based off the last few episodes you've seen, Itadori is not likely gonna be in the mood for lighthearted fun any time soon. This season finishes really strong imo so I'm excited to see your reaction to the final 5 eps.
