Iseyama did set it up like the original comment said. They left it out of the anime because they didn’t want to show a child having a tattoo, so it happened off screen

2024-01-01 21:40:31 +0000 UTCIn 1x6 Mikasa's mom did teach her a symbol to pass down to her children but it was a sewing pattern instead of a tattoo. It's interesting that the show chose to use the tattoo anyway even though they didn't set that up, could have avoided the inconsistency by having Mikasa show the Azumabito something she sewed the sigil into

2023-12-31 23:24:48 +0000 UTCthe symbol on Mikasa's arm was actually shown in the Manga super early-on (season 1) but they didn't put it into the anime unfortunately, so it didn't just come out of nowhere btw (and also shows how insanely far-out Isayama planned the story)

2023-12-30 18:27:56 +0000 UTCThis episode means so much to me especially whenever I rewatch. With all the terror and action it’s so nice to see the gang just love each other. Levi going “you’re all growing so damn big” and Conny and Sasha making fun of each other. Even without the foreshadowing that’ll make sense later, this episode serves the purpose of showing the bond our main characters have which makes the mystery of Erens true motivations even more compelling. Is he a villain now? What is he planning? God I love this show.
