Have I mentioned how much I love Procreate? I think it's been at least a week, right?
Tackling my first full illustration on the iPad. It's funny how I tiptoed around this piece yesterday, as if it were on paper - afraid to ruin it. I knitted a scarf instead.
Today, I told myself I couldn't ruin it, and started putting on the first washes. It's cool to work exactly as you would in watercolour - but with infitine chances to correct, AND to paint at a size that will make a large poster in the end! =D
What's also cool about this process is that it reminds me of my last digital spree in the early two thousands (those who remember me from Elfwood or Deviatart will know what I mean). That was a time when I felt I was messing up my every attempt with watercolour, and went digital, thereby gaining skills with colour and form that I could later put to use with actual watercolours, after 2010.
For example, almost every one of my recent watercolours turned out brighter and more garish than I really wanted it to be. I can't wait to see what painting in Procreate does to my process and the look of my art.
And now that the first washes are on, excuse me, there's another scarf I have to knit...
