Another Lockdown...

Germany's entering another lockdown on Wednesday; our district has already been in lockdown since Saturday, after cases were rocketing. Schools are mostly closed - exams were supposed to be happening, but we had so many students calling in sick or in quarantine that the next exams are cancelled, too.

I've been rotating all weekend. I'd be fine with those lockdowns if you had the chance to prepare. As in, Oh my, cases are rising! Once we hit 200/100.000 people per week, it's lockdown! But if you have an education ministry that openly derides any talk of closing schools, until it decides we'll close them RIGHT NOW, with two days' warning, that's simply ridiculous, majorly stress-inducing and overall very unhelpful in this train-wreck of a year.

Well.

We had a fun (all-German) sketching session last Wednesday, in which Jeff the crazy pheasant saw the light of day, along with cyber ants and an already apocryphal slug mutant. Jeff and the ants will have to be cleaned up a bit. I hope life will finally quiet down at the end of the week, so I can start working on the characters and setting a bit more.

I had some fun with Prismacolor pencils today. I'd bought a set this summer, called "Landscape set", which I liked very much. I haven't drawn in coloured pencil since... the nineties. I quite like the result.

I decided to try around a bit with cyber interfaces, for a more cyberpunk look (but without too disfiguring features). The raven is a character early on in the story; he's the one who gives the little girl the key. He's yet unnamed, but it's definitely Uncle Something.

Yes, you locked down much earlier and much more vehemently, while Germany thought this "diet lockdown" (they actually called it that) would be enough. We're Germany, after all! The whole world looked up to us last spring! We're really ace at handling this pandemic stuff! Well, no. ;)

Oh, this new lockdown seems a bit ominous, while here in France we begin to slowly get out of it :/ I really don't know what to think of all this, but I hope you'll be okay in spite of it all. I love how that raven looks <3

It's not like they suffer the consequences of their actions so they have incentive to learn.

Yes, it seems government doesn't learn that we can work with rules, but surprises make it hard! I hope this lockdown helps bring it back under control, a pity it has to happen now for Christmas. I understand the feeling of not being able to prepare for the lockdown as a teacher. Best of luck. Love the pencil work!
