"Utúlië'n Aurë!"

Then when Fingon heard afar the great trumpet of Turgon his brother, the shadow passed and his heart was uplifted, and he shouted aloud: ‘Utúlie’n aurë! Aiya Eldalië ar Atanatári, utúlie’n aurë! The day has come! Behold, people of the Eldar and Fathers of Men, the day has come!’ And all those who heard his great voice echo in the hills answered crying: ‘Auta i lómë! The night is passing!’

Watercolour and gel pen on Fabriano No. 5, 19x33 cm.

I love blues and golds so much! When I was a kid, my princesses always had dresses of blue and gold. Well, as long as I drew princesses. Hannibal didn't work in blue and gold. ;) Normally, all the light blue I use in any of my pieces will be Ultramarine; for this one, I switched completely to Cerulean Blue, which is warmer and softer - and I love the way it affects the golden light here.

I absolutely love how this one turned out, and I'm pretty sure I have never drawn a more handsome elf, and certainly no more handsome Fingon. The bar is high for a Maedhros/Fingon piece!

Prints are up on Etsy! <3 Original is for sale. I think. Possibly. ;)

Now I'm going to have to buy a print to go on my blue and gold art wall. (Which isn't a blue and gold art wall yet, it's just a wall with a bag of framed blue-and-gold-themed pictures resting against the skirting board.)

I don't think we'll see Turgon - I just don't like him, or care for him, at all. He's probably the one Elf who leaves me completely cold either way! ;)

Great painting! But did Maedhros hear your comment about Fingon being the most handsome? ;p ... And will we one day also see the corresponding piece of Turgon?

Anjuschka

Wow! Just lost for words.

Ewa Kuczynski

That is, indeed, more than amazing, it's outstanding! The interplay between colours, how they shift across surfaces, is very eye-catching. And oh my, his face is so, SO handsome, framed by what might be one of the best hairs you have painted yet. Amazing.

I won't think about what's coming next. I'll just stop an savor the exquisite beauty of this moment. 💕

I love the airiness and light in this picture, and the supremely handsome Fingon of course!

And then the heartbreak, as the oath swept away even those who had no part in it.

Steven Tryon

Gorgeous! I love his armour and helmet! And that hopeful face breaks my heart <3

Another masterpiece... you really are on a spree, aren't you?

And then I went and looked up your Death of Fingon. Stupid me. Now I’ crying, just because the contrast of mood so perfectly recalls how it feels to read that chapter.

Liv Klein

This wasn’t the one on your list I was looking most forwards to, I’ll admit - but I absolutely love the result! It perfectly captures the mood of that scene!
