TPU vs Foam Casting
Added 2024-11-01 22:46:58 +0000 UTCWorking a few models at the moment that are going to be TPU printed since I am wanting to make them "lighter". Been working on a few foam casted heads this last month and realized how heavy they can get with the flex it foam 3 but can get very similar results much much lighter with TPU.
I don't think this is something that gets discussed enough since many do not know the difference. You can print the TPU heads to have squish just like a foam casted head, but if you can get them much lighter I think I am just going to stick with that version.
I would have to do less clean up, could offer different sizing a lot faster and less chances of failures related to humidity. Since I live in florida I am always playing the game of "when is a good time to cast". Casting materials are expensive and if you do not use them all at once they go bad fast. So not that I am not going to offer foam casted, more like I am going to offer TPU versions first. Foam casting will come later next year.
The new TPU models will be offered here first to purchase. I want to be able to provide teeth, different noses to use on these and a variety of eyes as well. Little by little adding more to them.
Grumpy and happy dogs will be the first versions I will offer.
