New Models, Prints, Molds and More!

Working on a few thing at once since I am trying to use as much of my after hours as I can to get things ready for Megaplex and just general updates of my molds. We lost quite a few molds the last few months which has slowed me down a bit with customers so had to crank up the speed in creating new designs to print as positives and molds.

Currently working on a new hyena design which I started on nomad sculpt. Cleaned it up in Cozy blanket then back to nomad sculpt to finish working on it there.

So I am sure many ask, is cozy blanket a necessity when making masks. The simple answer is No. I use it to clean up my mesh and make it much easier for me to create shells with cleaner topology. So if you see me talking about cozy blanket it is a plus to have but not a necessity. I completely adore the program and has changed the way I do all my masks now. It actually speeds up my work flow a ton.

Once the mesh is finished on CB I send it back to Nomad sculpt and continue work there.

Mesh is low poly, I subdivide to get it to the point I can work with it and start adding the details I want. I thicken the mesh in Nomad as well and create cut out pieces for where I would want to add straps. I don't always add holes to add straps but since I plan to sell these as bases the holes are just a plus for everyone.

Once I am happy with the details I will finish this off by exporting it back to the PC. Will look over the mesh, probably reduce it a bit in Zbrush so it is easier for Cura to read it faster. Along with that I will take it into meshmixer, inspect the mesh to make sure there aren't any issues, flatten the back, resize and slice the model depending on what printer I plan to use.

Since this is a new model I like to draw over a screen grab to see what look I plan to go for. I do all my draw overs on the Ipad as well. I use procreate for this step. 

At the same time I am also working on 2 updated dogs that should work well for foxes. Grumpy and happy/neutral look. These will also be available to buy very soon. All these bases will first be sold in person at Megaplex. I will be posting some here as well.

I did start working on a girly version of a striped hyena, but the base will work for a few critters. This is more of a personal project to create a punky badass looking character that still says "femmy" without going over the top. Most of the time I focus on male or non gendered characters but very few girly ones. So why not try to add another look that people may enjoy. I should be offering this as a base in the future as well.

And a draw over to see what I want her to look. Will be cleaning up the mesh once I am done sculpting on cozy blanket.

Large cat base worked out really well. Did a few changes on the muzzle so it was easier to see out of and overall I am much happier. Setting this one up as a kit as some of the ones I will have available will have a few parts attached (such as eyes).

Kitty base will get another alteration to add the strap cut outs. For now I will have a few for sale as kits without them.

Printed bases and doing a new thing to attach the 2 parts together. I was using spheres before to get both sides to interlock but the seal was never as clean as I wanted. I spent more time sanding the spheres down that it was never a perfect fit. The printers specially with the way I print can create some small imperfections that make it hard for items to click perfectly together. So Decided to just cut out some holes which I was going to bolt together but decided to use zip ties instead. I definitely like the zip ties better because it weighs less overall. I will cut them out as squares next time now that I am going to continue using zip ties.

The inside needs to be sanded/cleaned up then resin coated and UV cured. After that the mold will be ready to go and used with expanding foam.

Tank tops! Started testing passing over my dye sub designs to tanks I got for Megaplex. I am working on doing quite a few designs on tank tops so be sure to come by my table at MP if you would like one.
