Timelapse: Painting Wood with Default Hard Brush
Added 2018-06-13 21:44:11 +0000 UTCI made a quick demo of how to push wood rendering to the next level, focusing primarily on values and only using Photoshop's default hard round brush. If you genuinely want to become a better painter, I recommend using the simplest tools possible and focusing on the principles- not the flash. Originally about 40 minutes, scaled down to 10.
I first painted it the way that I would have a few years ago, then took it further by grouping my values and working with more subtlety. Painting in grayscale is a great way to improve how you render form and value contrast.
