Silo | S2 Ep10

Here we are. We're at the rebellion.

It's the end of S2 and thing's really do mess me up in this episode.

I can't believe how much it's made me love some characters and hate others.

Enjoy!

'This show is morally grey. So beautifully complicated.' - Precisely! 100% Yes Camille next season is going to be an interesting one for sure! :)

First of all, such a brutal cut off. This was a great finale. And I think we all thought it was a different show first a second. Juliette made it back in time let's gooooo. Yes her losing her dad us sad (especially because of tge time they didn't get to spend together) but I don't think it's fair to say that he is the only person Jules us going back for. Mechanical, Walker, Shirley and Knox is her family. Oh I'm glad that Walker didn't betray the rebellion. Even though who knows what consequences that will have. I also don't really think that Shirley and Knox are the villains if the show. I think their revolt, mechanicals rebellion is just a natural reaction to the system they grew up in and the information they are privy to. Their cause is ultimately just even though without Jules involvement it would have killed the Silo. That's a main point of the show to me. The way governments and society are set up. How that is influenced by their environment and what kind of effect it has on people and what kind of people it produces. If there is a "villian" it's the system they are all subjected too. In Jules words "blame the founders". This show is morally grey. So beautifully complicated. It will be exciting to see what will happen in season three with all these different parties involved. I loved the Eater subplot. The subplot with the kids entirely. Especially because that means that Solo won't be alone. Him facing his fears and going into the water showes so much character growth. I'm scared of Camille next season and a Bernard and Jules team up would be really interesting. ALSO DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR PAUSING

Haha you're brave for that! I have no idea how long she has until the safeguard is initiated, not long i imagine! And thank you for that extra info!

I have no idea why I chose to watch the last episode during dinner time 😂 I was not able to touch my food! Intense does not describe this episode at all! Just wondering how long does Jules have, if she survives the fire, to stop the lethal gas… Yes, that is The Capitol in Washington D.C. what peaked my interest was the question from the journalist to the politician if there would be a response to the attack…which he avoided to answer. A bit of info from the last part: a bulldog is the mascot for Univ of Georgia, the duck for Univ of Oregon, the reference to “1995” might be for the year they graduated from college, which made me think the present year might be in the 2000’s and when I looked up the release year for PEZ yellow duck, it was 2008. What a season…looking forward to season 3! Thanks for pausing and explaining things and sharing your thoughts as always!

I finally made it to the end. You were absolutely not alone being stressed, that shit was tense as hell. I can't like Bernard, but I do see where he's coming from. He strikes me as "the ends justify the means" type of guy. Everything he's personally done, all of the oppressive and, in my opinion, evil aspects of the silo system are acceptable as long as the silo survives. In his mind, they are the reason the silo survives. I think we can safely assume he wouldn't struggle with the trolley problem. Personally, I think any system build on keeping people in the dark and feeding them shit, even with the noblest of intentions, is doomed to fail. Inevitably a crack will form, distrust and emotion will surge and the people will revolt. On the other hand, I can't fault Knox, Shirley and the rest of that plucky gang of misguided misfits for their actions. Although those actions were ultimately pointless, they realized that they were missing some significant information and went for IT, rather than straight outside, which I think is about as reasonable a decision as can be expected. Unfortunately, as seems to always be the case with civil uprisings, some people did want to go all the way. This is where I think the gang failed. They didn't prepare for people to want to keep going and seemed to be completely unaware of that sentiment growing in the crowd. Maybe more of an EP9 thing but I only noticed it now, was that the voice in the vault and the voice in the tunnel were the same. This raises a few questions: is that an AI of some sort? Is it some overall control control centre? Why is it not active in Silo 17? Then branching from there: why isolate the silos from each other? Surely a larger community would be better able to weather any issues that come up. If outside is so deadly, why bother with the Safeguard Procedure? Having a kill switch for what is, at least in superficial appearance, an arc to safeguard the survival of humanity, seems counterproductive. Something here is not adding up for me and makes me question why the silos were really made and what is the ultimate goal. My theory for S3 is that Jules survives but Bernard doesn't, that they will disable the safeguard procedure and then attempt to reach out to other silos. Hopefully, we get more on what actually happened in the before time and why the silos were built. One thing to note, dirty bombs are different from nuclear bombs. Modern nukes actually cause very little fallout because they are so efficient. Bigger boom, less radiation... the shittiest of silver linings. Dirty bombs, on the other hand, are specifically meant to create a cloud of radioactive dust by using conventional explosives mixed with radioactive material. Yes, they are nightmare fuel. Geez, what a novel. Sorry Emilli, I've totally stolen your thing. 😅

Mhmm if it takes after the next book, it may be right?! Gonna be great, I hope!

Claudie

Me too I'm very excited for season 3, and interested to see what's next! Shouldnt be too long a wait!

Claudie

Mhmm yes that bit caught me off guard, and I'm wondering if theyll listen to her or not!

Claudie

Oooo that sounds cool!

Claudie

Indeed it was!

Claudie

Yes see I know nothing, never read the books so I was quite... on edge lol! I thought it was very well done!

Claudie

There's going to be one helluva revolutionary hangover when Jules tells them that outside is off limits.I think that she jumps on Bernard to protect him. Steve Zhan - chef's kiss of a performance. Wow! I hope they at least try to recover those in the other Silo - can't imagine just carrying on like they don't exist. Can't wait for the next season. This may be my favourite show so far (on here). Thank you, Claudie.

O-Towne Bear

Hell yeah! Jules saving the day! God I got so much goosebumps when she appeared on the screen in the cafeteria. And then the switch to the flashback at the end. Totally caught me off guard. I really can't wait to see how the folks react on her showing the "not safe do not come out" sign.

Steve Zahn is such a brilliant actor. If you want to see him turn in a powerful performance in a more lighthearted role - You should check him out alongside George Clooney in the movie "Happy, Texas". It's about bank robbers disguised as youth pageant coaches in a small Texas town.

Who gives a PEZ dispenser for a date gift? That guy ain't right.

Bart Dorsey

Fantastic!

Awesome reaction. This episode was intense. The seasons have slower moments, but it makes those increases in intensity pop out. I wasn't really sure how it would go when I watched it and I was nervous too, even having read the books, as that was a long time ago and I wasn't sure at all about how they would handle it. The final switch was a surprise!

Etincelle

Ikr very very intense!

Claudie
