MARCH 2020 - A Lockdown Survival Kit from Birdeatsbaby

Dear Patrons,

Well. It’s certainly been an eventful month, hasn’t it?

I think it’s safe to say that right this minute, we are more grateful than we have ever been for your support!

The music industry has taken a massive blow over the last two weeks - especially the independent groups. Everyone’s tours and festivals have been cancelled, and most of us are in a very uncertain state. We’ve definitely felt it in BEB camp, but we’re making the best of the extra time by writing, practicing and doing as much as we can online… we’ve been through quite a lot as a band as this virus is certainly not going to stop us!!!

With the extra time and the inevitable cancellation of all our tours this year (boooo) we will endeavour to push forward and start with our next album. I mean - why the hell not?? The world doth indeed conspire… but not forever ;)

During lockdown time we would love to hear from you even more - if you have an idea or would like to see us do something in particular on Patreon then just let us know and your wish is our command. Literally we are doing nothing else except writing music now so please feel free to give us extra homework.

Before I reveal this months patron-only goodies, here are some ‘things’ you can expect over the next few months… you know… in case you were thinking of going anywhere… ;)

1. MISHKIN FITZGERALD & THE CHEMICAL PERILS - FULL ALBUM

Basically, this thing can go full steam ahead as soon as I find a way to record drums. Studios are shut down everywhere and Anna is on lockdown of course but we shall see what happens… we’re going to crack on with demos and midi drums for the time being but expect this before the year is out! I already have a track-list of twelve songs… oh yeah.

2. HEX - NEW BEB ALBUM BEGINS

Yes. Album number 6. It needs to be the most evil album of all. Think dark, tribal drums. Harmonic minor and middle eastern scales. Lyrics that become life mantras and curses for the wicked. Floating and interweaving pianos, violins and guitars in polyrhythms. We are only making 9 songs. But each one will be a masterpiece and flow into the next creating a gothic tidal wave of sound. We’re also creating custom-made artwork and videos that go with each song. It’s going to be pretentious as fuck.

3. MISHKIN SONG-WRITING MASTERCLASSES

Ever wondered how a BEB song comes into fruition? Very soon, I’ll be demonstrating how I write music and lyrics, using video tutorials to pick apart the chords, rhythm, structure and show you how to do it yourself. If you like your music gothic and your theory confusing, then this is the patron reward for you! I’ll get the others involved so we have several instruments too, just to be extra geeky.

4. 'HOW THE WORLD CONSPIRED' - A DOCUMENTARY

So, you’ve been seeing some clips from this over the last two months. The whole sha-bang is about to come out. Next month the whole thing is out on Patreon. It’s going to be juicy.
