They don't like it, but they can't pursue him until Hiro orders it. Some of them, such as Hebi and Itami, as well as Yasei-ji, have already started their own families. Hebi would want Shoto to meet his children, but he understands it won't happen anytime soon and has accepted that. Because the family regularly gathers on Sakura's death anniversary, that's usually when everyone realizes he's not coming back. The comic will go into detail about how they feel.

To truly comprehend them, you must first separate Mamoru and Hiro, since they have very different motivations and personalities. Hiro aspired to be better than his father and tried his hardest, but just as Turtle becomes stronger when Shoto grows weaker, Mamoru grows stronger when Hiro grows weaker. Hiro is a lot older than Shoto, which means he's not as powerful as he was when he was younger to control Mamoru. Therefore, a lot of the abuse was out of Hiro's hands, and he probably doesn't remember half of it since they have different memories. Hiro informed Shoto that he was exactly like him in terms of changing into a whole new person when they fight or are obliged to lead. The characters are unaware that they have D.I.D. Only the readers are aware of this.
