Script Snippet: [Reanimation Scheme - Lyrissa]

Hey everyone!

Next reward up for this month is a script snippet preview β€” the last snippet of Lyrissa's route, which will be wrapped up in the next beta build update coming soon! This short excerpt comes from Chapter 14 of her route and shows a bit of an emotional scene as a teaser😒

What's the context of this scene? You'll find out soon in the beta build πŸ‘€

----

She joins me by the fire, crossing her legs and watching me intently.

Lyrissa: A coin for your thoughts, Rae?

My tongue darts out to wet my parched lips. I open my mouth briefly but closing it again without a word.

What can I say? What is there to even say?

Raenelle: ...I don't know. Sorry, Rissa.

Lyrissa: If you don't want to talk about it yet, that's okay. But if you want to cry, then let it out.

Lyrissa: You don't have to keep it together and put on a brave face around me. It's okay. My shoulder is always here for you to lean on, remember?

Raenelle: I'm fine. I β€”

A strangled sob wrangles its way from my throat, and just like that, the dam breaks.

Perhaps it's the tenderness in her red-rimmed eyes, accentuated by the flickering flames of the campfire, that's to blame β€” or perhaps it's the tear-stains still on her cheeks.

Either way, I find myself unable to stop as the sobs wrack through my body, bawling shamelessly like a baby.

Lyrissa pulls me into a warm embrace, stroking my back in a soothing gesture while my breakdown runs its course. Soon, I feel warm drops of liquid fall onto my neck as she, too, gives in to her own grief and emotional torment.

I cry and cry until the tears finally start to run dry. By now, the ends of Lyrissa's dress has been reduced to a wrinkled mess, having been subject to the misfortune of being crushed and torn by my fists as I tried to wrestle for some remnant of self-control.

I pull myself away from Lyrissa slightly, trying to smooth her poor dress with embarrassment. She reaches forward to brush the tears off my face. I lean forward to return the favor, eliciting a wobbly smile from her.

Raenelle: Sorry. I don't know why I just lost it.

I wince at the hoarseness of my voice, clearing my throat.

Lyrissa: No, I'm glad you did. You shouldn't keep that bottled up inside.

Lyrissa: Do you feel a little better now?

Raenelle: I... suppose.

I let out a long, slow breath, pressing my palm over my eyes.
