That evening, he was walking home alone, feeling particularly down. There had been some trouble at work, and his coworkers’ attitudes had left him frustrated. He kept his head down, not even bothering to glance at the people passing by. The streetlights cast a dim yellow glow, stretching his shadow long across the ground, as if the city itself were trying to swallow him. He sighed, only wanting to get home and shut himself away from the world.

Just then, he noticed a few strange little creatures floating in the air. They had soft, round bodies, ears like those of animals, and glowed with a gentle light—like little fairies straight out of a storybook. He stopped, surprised, thinking for a moment that he might just be hallucinating from exhaustion. But the creatures didn’t disappear. Instead, they fluttered around him lightly, as if inviting him to follow.

He found himself drawn to them. They weren’t frightening at all—just the opposite. They radiated a kind of warmth that began to seep into his chest. His mood started to shift. The heavy weight in his heart gradually lightened, though he couldn't explain why. A smile crept onto his face without him even noticing. His eyes softened. He had no idea that, at the same time, his body was starting to change.

It started with his ears. He felt something strange on top of his head and reached up, only to feel something furry. Then came the tail—a sudden weight near his waist, fluffy and soft. His whole body was becoming lighter. His limbs no longer felt the same. Looking down, he saw that his clothes had completely changed. He was now wearing a frilly white dress with pink accents, delicate lace trimming the edges. On his legs were tight-fitting white stockings that clung smoothly to his skin, and each step brought out their soft sheen. His feet were snugly enclosed in black round-toed heels adorned with little pink bows. The heels weren’t high, but they gave a gentle rhythm to each of her steps.

She looked down at her feet, at the dainty shoes she now wore, and lifted one heel slightly off the ground. The tiny sound it made drew a quiet laugh from her lips. The heavy feelings from earlier were gone, entirely forgotten. She raised a hand, her sleeve dangling slightly, edged with fluttering lace. In her palm, one of the glowing creatures spun in midair, and her heart filled with joy.

She no longer remembered why she had been so upset before. All she knew was how comfortable she felt now. A breeze passed by, lifting the hem of her skirt. The white stockings clung to her legs, smooth and warm, as the heels clicked softly with each step, as if tapping out a cheerful rhythm. She gently lifted the hem and spun around, her fluffy tail swaying behind her, her animal ears twitching slightly in the breeze. She was completely immersed in this transformation, as if she had always been this cheerful little dog-girl, as if she had finally found her true self.

The little creatures danced around her in joy. She opened her arms, spinning and hopping along with them. Under the night sky, she had become the happiest figure in sight, with every sadness left far behind in the shadows.
