Sorry for the delay this week. I was hoping to get more posted. If you were at the Art Stream on Wednesday then you already know that the toilet got backed up on Monday. Seemed like a small job. I just needed to pick up an auger on Tuesday, clear out the pipe and replace the seal on the toilet. Picked up a 25' auger. It did not work.

Fortunately, the guy who was helping us with the roof used to be a plumber and took some time to figure out what our next move should be. Long story short, I finally got to crawl under the house. It's very cramped under there. I don't know how cavers do it. We worked at it for a few hours with no luck.

Fortunately, Mel's dad had a 75' electric auger that he let us borrow, so the plan was the clear things out first thing Thursday morning. Unfortunately, there was a power outage at 8am and there was no electricity until 2pm. Fortunately/unfortuantely, we had enough to keep us occupied, because the bathroom flooded. We were able to shut off the water and fix the problem before it moved beyond the bathroom. It took most of the afternoon, but we also managed to get the clog cleared up. Somebody at some point put paper towels down the toilet. God only knows how long they'd been down there. I will hunt down the monster who did this, but that's a project for another week. ;)

Everything's cool now! The toilet works again, the bathroom is clean, and I didn't need to call the plumber...okay, so on Thursday, around five o'clock, I was at the end of my rope, I had no spoons left and I loudly declared, 'that's it! I'm calling a plumber like I should have done in the first place!' I whipped out my phone, started typing 'plumber' into search...and the battery of my phone died.

I handled it amazingly well. Thirty minutes later, the clog was cleared.

We're all exhausted. It took most of Friday to clean everything up. The silver lining...I know how to fix the toilet now. I feel like I just survived a right of passage. I feel great! Exhausted and annoyed that I lost my week, but I feel like I've leveled up.
