Turbo Out Run & More Pocket FPGA cores

Note: some Out Run versions may spent 30 seconds on a black screen before booting up. But they eventually boot up.
MiSTer files are in JTBIN (use update_all). Only the MRA files are updated.

At the beginning of the week I was planning to have the first games of the JTKIWI core released today. But, I was reminded of some issues in already released games and decided to spend a few days on maintenance tasks.

Road Fighter got upside down in some update and had been wrong for a while. That has been corrected. The problem preventing new high scores in Hyper Sports and Track’n Field should be fixed too. We have also ported and tested all the early 80’s arcade Konami systems to the Pocket FPGA too. This means nine new titles plus many variations. The supported systems are: Kicker, Konami’s Ping-Pong, Mikie, Hyper Sports, Road Fighter, Super Basketball, Track’n Field, Yie Ar Kung-Fu and Roc´n Rope. Just unzip the attached file on your SD card. Create the ROM files following the instructions in JTBIN. Remember to join our Discord community and ask for help there if the mra-to-rom conversion sounds a bit challenging.

The Out Run core itself still needs the frame buffer addition. But, we are adding the rest of compatible MRA files for it now. That includes Turbo Out Run. I know that the MiSTer version is unstable at the moment so some users may not be able to enjoy them. MiST and the Pocket will work in a stable way, though. The plan is to update the core with frame buffer support for the 2nd of December.

Schematic extraction for CPS3 is now done at 60% (see the attached file). For each custom chip pin connections we are at: PPU 80%, SSU 40%, GLL1 60%, IOU 70%. Find the current schematics PDF attached. We are waiting for the arrival of the first custom chips donated for analysis.

If all goes well, we’ll have the beta for Insector-X next week, a Taito shooter belonging to The New Zealand Story family of boards.

A principios de semana tenía previsto que los primeros juegos del core JTKIWI se publicasen hoy. Luego me recordaron algunos de los problemas que tienen los juegos publicados y decidí dedicar unos días más a tareas de mantenimiento.

Road Fighter se puso del revés en alguna actualización y llevaba un tiempo mal. Esto ya ha sido corregido.  También hemos portado y probado para la Pocket FPGA todos los sistemas arcade de Konami de principios de los 80. Esto significa nueve títulos nuevos y muchas variaciones. Los sistemas soportados son: Kicker, Konami's Ping-Pong, Mikie, Hyper Sports, Road Fighter, Super Basketball, Track'n Field, Yie Ar Kung-Fuand y Roc´n Rope. Sólo tienes que descomprimir el archivo adjunto en tu tarjeta SD. Crea los archivos ROM siguiendo las instrucciones de JTBIN. Recuerda unirte a nuestra comunidad de Discord y pedir ayuda allí si la conversión de MRA a ROM te resulta un poco difícil.

El core de Out Run todavía necesita la adición del frame buffer. Todavía estamos añadiendo el resto de archivos MRA compatibles para él. Eso incluye el Turbo Out Run. Sé que por el momento, la versión de MiSTer es inestable por lo que algunos usuarios no podrán disfrutarlos todavía. Sin embargo, MiST y  Pocket funcionarán de forma estable. El plan es actualizar el núcleo con soporte de frame buffer para el 2 de diciembre.

La extracción de esquemáticos de la CPS3 va por el 60% (ver fichero adjunto). Las conexiones que hemos completado para los puertos de cada chip son: PPU 80%, SSU 40%, GLL1 60%, IOU 70%. Estamos a la espera de los primeros chip CPS3 para su desensamblado y análisis.

Si todo va bien, la semana que viene tendremos la beta de Insector-X, un shooter de Taito perteneciente a la familia de placas The New Zealand Story.

週の初めには、今日はJTKIWIコアの最初のゲームをリリースする予定でした。しかし、すでにリリースされているゲームにいくつかの問題があることを思い出し、数日間をメンテナンス作業に費やすことにしました。

まず、ロードファイターは、何かのアップデートで上下が逆になってしまい、しばらくそのままでした。それは修正済みです。ハイパーオリンピック´84とハイパーオリンピックで新しいハイスコアが出せない問題も修正されているはずです。また、80年代初期のコナミのアーケードゲームもすべてPocket FPGAに移し、すべてテスト済です。9つのバリエーション豊かな新タイトルが楽しめます。対応するシステムは以下の通りです。ショーリンズロード、コナミのピンポン、新入社員とおるくん、ハイパーオリンピック´84、ロードファイター、スーパーバスケットボール、ハイパーオリンピック、イー・アー・カンフー、ロックンロープです。SDカードに添付されたファイルを解凍するだけです。JTBINの説明 に従ってROMファイルを作成してください。mra-to-romへの変換が少し難しそうなら、私達のDiscordコミュニティーに参加して、お気軽にお問い合わせください。

アウトランコア自体は、まだフレームバッファを追加する必要があります。しかし、我々は現在、互換性のあるMRAファイルの残りを追加しています。これにはTurbo Out Runも含まれます。現在、MiSTer版が不安定なので、一部のユーザーは楽しめないかもしれませんね。MiSTとPocketは安定した形で動作する予定ですが。フレームバッファに対応したコアのアップデートは12月2日の予定です。
