In the little hamlet of Heahtta there's hardly other schooling than the essential skill of reading and basic mathematics.
After their schooling, the children continue to learn from their parents, and through their craft. Fewer girls attend than boys, as the girls are taught their chores and useful skills by their own mothers, and then married off.
Jáhko belongs to this demographic of those children. However, Veeti being the second eldest of the sons, is required to get further education.
The Harmonsuo wish to expand their business to South, and want Veeti to learn the language, advanced mathematics and etiquette.
At the age of 12 he is sent to be schooled in Kirkald. The boarding school is newly built. it's teacher of southern background, explaining the uniform that resembles quite nothing like the colourful tunics of the Fjoldi.
Attending to the school is expensive, affordable only by the wealthy.
Veeti is housed in the summer of 1844.
Later, in the spring 1845, Veeti quits attending the school abruptly. He returns back to Heahtta to be home schooled.
