Fighting game progress

Hey everyone, we are making progress on the fighting game. I'm now paying a lot more than the total amount from this patreon JUST for one programmer's work on it, and that doesn't include the cost of character models I'm also paying for, or animation. (Not to mention Codex art!!) So yeah, any support you all give here is GREATLY appreciated and goes right into these projects, currently just to fund a small fraction of them. I'm really excited about this fighting game and about Codex, and it's amazing to have your support to help make them.

We need a bit more work before I can show builds to the $25+ patrons, but it's coming pretty soon. It will surely also be a good source of material for new Raw Game Design podcasts for the $10+ patrons.

We're still working on the first character, and even though right now there's just placeholder animations, it's already very promising and I've played it for many hours. It's probably a lot simpler than many of you are expecting, but it turns out that having just a fraction of what a normal fighting game would have (but a larger fraction than Divekick has) is still very fun, and immediately accessible. Divekick is a great game imo, but it feels a lot more "real" when we have projectiles, blocking, and throws in there too.

I hope you all can have a bit more patience as we continue progress. Please let any of your friends know that this might be an effort worth supporting, and see if you can get them on board here too. I'd love to not go bankrupt making this thing, lol. (And Codex for tabletop, and Codex online.)

There's ALSO Codex progress going on, in the form of art development for the game board, patrol zone, and a revision to the rulebook. I hope to have that stuff ready within a week or so as well.

Thanks!

I like that you're making these public. It's nice to hear how it's going, even if non-Patrons don't get to see any of the cool art of podcasts. Also helps fans to follow the game status. E.g. I have zero budget to become an on-going Patron, but maybe when it's at a "here's a build you can play" stage I could become a Patron for a month, or something. I wish you had a giant budget to make a documentary about the creation of it with a team like 2 Player Productions, like they did with Double Fine Adventure. Though I guess that's harder to do if the dev team and playtesters are at different locations.
