Alchemy has traces linking it back to ancient Egypt, so some theme appropriate monsters seemed fitting.
The Spellcatcher Sahir are dark sorcerers bound to genies, capable of, you guessed it, catching spells.
I drew inspiration from djinn pacts, which seems to be a a popular theme within D&D.
