American Graffiti (1973) Full Length Reaction

This one is all about the vibes of one crazy night! And the music of course! Obviously great music throughout and really thought the Wolfman DJ'ing the movie was so cool! Lots of stars in this when they were young and just a really cool vibe. Makes me wanna cruise around in my car with all my friends -- all listening to the Wolfman of course! What other 'one crazy night' movies are there?

Great job, Jen! You probably know by now but Wolfman Jack was a real DJ. He was host of a very popular late night show in the 70s that had on it just about everybody you can think of who was popular at the time--playing live for a studio audience their biggest hits. It was called Midnight Special. Check it out on you tube. If you're a fan of classic rock, you'll love it!

Because you asked: this was the first grown-up movie I saw in a movie theatre, my parents took me with them, I was like 6. I already knew the soundtrack like the back of my hand and studied all the pictures of the movie, although I had no idea what it was about. Being in a packed theatre seeing this in the early 70s was DAZZLING and it was basically a party. I was blown away by the visuals, by this world, and by the blasting music. I remember hearing gasps and sobs when the epilogue happened and having to have it explained to me in the car ride home. One of MANY 70s endings that leave you bummed out! I'm probably one of the only kids whose first George Lucas movie wasn't Star Wars, lol. And if you asked me when I was a kid, I still would have told you I preferred "Graffiti"! Ha! PS: I thought you had done "Dazed And Confused". Oh my god. They are twins. Dazed is the little brother movie to American Graffiti. You can see it asap or whenever you want, but they ARE related. Together the two movies are about the elephant in the room, the thing you never see: the 60s. Or as you say at the end of this reaction: "the hard 60s". You will totally get it.
