2024-11-30 01:44:52 +0000 UTCSo interesting that this was meant as an allegory about acceptance of homosexuality when it came out but it is actually more resonant now with the struggle for transgender acceptance. Originally they wanted to cast a male actor for the role (which Jonathan Frakes was totally onboard with), but notorious Trek producer Rick Berman shut that idea down as being too scandalous π (he was a bit of a prick)
