In one of her three reactions Jen praises the lyrical prose of the movies, and I totally agree. And the actors brought the words home. A couple of my favorites were Boromir's pledge to Aragorn as he dies, and Theoden's "Dark have been my dreams of late" as he is released from Saruman's spell. (BTW Bernard Hill, who also played Capt. Smith in Titanic, passed away earlier this year. RIP.) Some of my favorite music came at the very end: the melody as the ships sail away from the harbor, and Annie Lennox singing "Into the West" as sketches of the actors scroll by. Bravo to Peter Jackson! And bravo to Jen for tackling the extended edition--the only way to go! (Check out Jackson's "They Shall Not Grow Old" if you get the chance. He colorized and added audio to silent black and white films of British troops from WW I. Hs attention to detail and authenticity are amazing!!!)

Great idea to revisit this with your added experience and that was a phenomenonal edit, great job!

Interesting factoid... "Is that his baby?" I can't recall which but one of them is, but Sean Astin's (Sam) child is one of them and the other is Sarah McLeod's (Rosie). So...yes. Or maybe no. Or just maybe? lol

😂 A sign of great filmmaking though!

I was a little later at 16. My friends and I even played MERP for a few years (Middle Earth Role Playing), which is DnD but in Middle Earth. I always played a dwarf ranger.

Some day I'll count how many "Oh god oh frig"s there were in this trilogy.

I read the LOTR series when I was in 6th grade. So... (minus 9, carry the 2........) when I was 11 years old!

Thank you Jen for reacting to this awesome series! I hope we get the Hobbit ones next. And I hope the Canadian Postal Strike ends soon.

Mastervodo

There is no trilogy better than The Lord of the Rings! I read it for the first time back around 1986 and when they made the films it was a dream come true for all fans! To this day it’s still magical.

Happy Thanksgiving (even though you celebrate the metric one)
