Santa Claus the movie from 1985

Captain S. H. Beagle

Die Hards 1-4 are on my channel

Jen M

Where is Die Hard 2 (1990)??

Joe M

Hard to say, you already watched Die Hard.

Glenn Galloway

I like Bad Santa (and voted for it) but not as much as Elf.

Clay F

Tora Tora Tora is a better movie, I know it got panned at the time but military historians do rate it high for accuracy and it gives a seldom seen Japanese viewpoint of Pearl Harbor along with the American one.

Allen Porter

Most of them are decent pictures, I will agree Scrooged is probably the best followed by Edward Scissorhands.

Allen Porter

I'm not being a Scrooge by selecting 'None.' I just save my Yuletide viewing for the Alastair Sim's version of 'A Christmas Carol.' My absolute favorite Christmas movie! :-) (Now if Jen wants to reach out through the ether and smack me upside the head with a 2x4, she can do so because I passed on multiple opportunities to drive from Orange to LA county to attend a one-man show of Patrick Stewart reading 'A Christmas Carol.')

Georgius Agricola

The Family Stone (2005) is a hysterical Christmas movie! The Christmas Chronicles (2018) and The Christmas Chronicles 2 (2020) on Netflix are fantastic, too!

fire12wife

I'll skip this round. Thanks for all you do!

Dave K

Bad Santa manages to be that rare movie that is horrifying but still funny as heck.

John Zelinka

The family man is one of my favourite Nic Cage movies

William

I think Stanley Kubrick said that it was a "great" movie. Not a funny movie. But a great one. It definitely was a great big bunch of noise and franticness! :-)

Analytical Guy

Rip Bad Santa. We hardly knew ye.

Amarant Coral

Yes, that's a great one, but with her Star Trek fandom, I thought she might like to see the one with Patrick Stewart. I think the only non-Trek role she has seen of his was X-Men.

Zapp Rowsdower

I can't believe it's losing to Elf.

Zapp Rowsdower

@EricJanssen, I agree on that. Even though I like everybody who was in it, I found it to be so cheesy without ever making me laugh. I guess it's one of those that you either love or hate.

Zapp Rowsdower

I tend to agree with the critics consensus and thus find those aggregate sites helpful in deciding what movies among thousands of movies to spend my limited tme watching. You may prefer IMDb which is users, not critics. 118,000 users at IMDb gave Jingle All the Way (1996) an average rating of 5.7

Clay F

I really don't care about what the "critics" say on those aggregate sites. If we all liked the same movies, it'll be pretty boring 🀣

Carlos Perez

8 bit Christmas is a fairly newer christmas movie based in the 80s

zynjams

Your Christmas Muppets reaction with sis is my fave festive reaction of yours by far. πŸ’œπŸ’”πŸΈπŸŽ„

Jason Scade

I think you're wrong. I think she'd love it. On the other hand, if I'm going to recommend a Tim Burton-Danny Elfman-Johnny Depp collaboration, it's going a different "Ed" film...Ed Wood (1994).

To Wa

I'm pleased to see that you will be watching It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. I hope you will also watch two other movies from my must see list Miracle on 34th Street 1947 and A Christmas Carol 1951.

Joseph H Searles

Scrooged is the best film on the list

scott osborne

Stewie and I have the same opinion of Will Ferrell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRBtNwJhO6E

thebeefmaster

Fun flick. John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd

TheNeonRabbit

The 1951 Alastair Sim vs. 1984 George C. Scott debate rages on, and I lean slightly to the side of Sin defenders. Close, though.

Eric Janssen

At no time in man's history will Spielberg's 1941 EVER be good.

Eric Janssen

I wouldn't "recommend" 1941, as in, a movie I think she would enjoy. Say, compared to Edward Scissorhands. But I would absolutely watch her full reaction to 1941. :-)

Analytical Guy

I heard that the Man Who Invented Christmas was good back when it came out. I wanted to go see it but somehow didn’t get around to it. Still want to see it if I can find it.

Daniel Goldberg

IMDb average rating by users: 5.7 -- Jingle All the Way (1996) 7.9 -- Edward Scissorhands (1990) 7.9 -- The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Clay F

Yeah, currently in next to last place.

Clay F

+1 for The Holdovers

Clay F

The Schwarzenegger star power.

Clay F

With the anniversary of Pearl Harbor coming up, 1941 by Speilberg would be good.

Tim

It's alright to leave on in the background and glance up at the funny moments, but Schwarzenegger is ever popular on YT reactions

Witchfinder General

A Danny Elfman musical.

Kane

The Alistar Sim one has always been the one true Christmas Carol in my family as well. If you love the story there was a movie that seemed to have flopped and disappeared a few years ago called "The Man Who Invented Christmas" and it's about Dickens while he's writing the Christmas Carol. I thought it was quite a unique take on it, and I really enjoyed it.

Kane

I can't believe Bad Santa doesn't have more votes. Not only is it movie I love but Jen's quasi-horrified raunchy comedy reactions are some of my favorite on the entire channel.

Kane

Jen already did that!

W T

The Family Man 2000 The Holdovers 2023

Matt

The 1951 Scrooge (sometimes listed as A Christmas Carol) with Alistair Sim has spoiled all other versions for me. I can’t recommend it enough. For many of us it is the definitive version. I don’t include Scrooged with Bill Murray in this as it is not a faithful retelling of the story, but is a very funny movie based on it.

Daniel Goldberg

Me personally... The Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm more of a darkly jolly boy, if anything. πŸ˜„πŸ€£πŸ’€

Over50Gamer

I can see it being that if you like that kind of charm, and it's a gulity pleasure with some nostalgia maybe. Makes sense.

Clay F

It's a Wonderful Life is a must-watch.

Joel P

I love Jingle All the Way. It's stupid but it's fun and has a certain corny charm to it that I like. It's a guilty pleasure.

Joel P

Kristin D

Eyes Wide Shut is on many Christmas movies lists.

Clay F

Glad to see that Jingle All the Way (1996) is last. That movie is absymal. Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Elf (2003) are my top 2 choices.

Clay F

Maybe Black Christmas? Or Maybe not - it might be better to keep Jen’s terror and suffering to a minimum this season… xD

Banes

Also recommend Spielberg's 1941, set in between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

To Wa

Finney great actor.

edgecenter

Hi Jen, my favourite version of (A Christmas Carol) is the 1951 Alistair Sim version. Another Xmas staple is (The Shop Around the Corner) 1940, starring James Stewart, Margaret Sullavan & Frank Morgan. The latter you might know from (The Wizard Of Oz) 1939. I also love (The Bishop`s Wife) 1947 which you have already seen. The other, if you actually have never seen it, would be the Musical/Comedy (White Christmas) 1954. It stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney & Vera Ellen with a great supporting cast. I also enjoy some of the more modern films, such as those with Bill Murray & Tim Allen in them.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

The Christmas Carol with George C. Scott is my favorite.

Geoff S.

I do really like the Hallmark movie November Christmas with Sam Elliott! πŸ‘

Adam Romero

Was going to suggest A Christmas Carol (1999) the other week when she asked, but it felt a bit on the nose - classic story, great performance though.

Martin Nicholls

Eyes Wide Shut as a non-traditional Christmas movie? I'll say - also Terminator 2? That one feels like it needs an explanation :p

Martin Nicholls

Scrooged will likely win, but you would LOVE nightmare before Christmas. It's a Musical!!

Jon Johns

Yeah, when I finally watched it a few years ago, I was kinda mad that I waited so long to watch it.

Joe Blankenship

Scrooge the musical with Albert Finney is my favourite version. The songs are very uplifting to me. Though the Patrick Stewart and George C. Scott versions are great too. Oh and Michael Caine is flawless.

William

I did over 50 Christmas movies last year between classics, Hallmark, Lifetime, and everything else I could find. I just wanted to see how many I could watch from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Day. πŸŽ„πŸŽ¬πŸΏ

NYG316

How many versions of A Christmas Carol have you already seen, Jen? Both the Alasdair Sim and the George C. Scott versions are classics.

Ken Schneyer

Good choices. I am partial to the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street starring Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Natalie Wood, and Edmund Gwenn. Of the three versions of this movie, thats my absolute favorite!

NYG316

If you’re looking for any Christmas themed movies that are non-traditional, check out Eyes Wide Shut (Kubrick) or Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (RDJ, Val Kilmer, & directed by Shane Black).

DrJonasVenture

Jingle is greeatt

Mark McKeown

A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart is really good. Also recommend Miracle On 34th Street, both the original and the 90's version.

Katie Jackson

You should do a separate poll on the best Lifetime Christmas movies. I watched several last year while my wife was in a skilled nursing facility. They were fun movies.

edgecenter

Christmas Vacation, Grinch and Charlie Brown are all here on Patreon!

Jen M

πŸ€”πŸ§β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

Benjy

Just about any of the Christmas Carol movies would be great. Just not the musical. George C Scott was probably the best. Also Miracle on 34th St, The Bing Crosby, Bob Hope movies are great too. One of the best rated is Christmas Vacation. Then there's Grinch and Charle Brown.

edgecenter

Does Legolas count?

Jason Scade

I'd go for all. Three I haven't seen. πŸŽ„β˜ƒπŸ’œ Scrooged is a semi-mean spirited good laugh. Good Jen picks for your two, classics. Especially 'It's a Wonderful Life'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ZoHfJZACA

Jason Scade

Christmas classic I literally *finally* watched this year and it blew me away: It’s a Wonderful Life. For anyone who hasn’t seen it, it is SURPRISINGLY good and well worth the categorization of Classic

Dean

I went with Jingle All The Way. It is the only movie here I would be interested in.

You haven’t seen Elf? 😭
