Be Kind Rewind 2008

Get 'Airheads (1994)' on your radar - it's got a stacked cast including Kramer

Witchfinder General

This was such a joy to watch with you! And I really appreciated your reflections of childhood musicianship and favorite music teachers... Much to my surprise I've become a music instructor on a very part-time basis, and your comments about passionate conductors who sing and jump around while the kids play rings true for some of my favorite directors in the past as well as how I seem to end up exuding my own enthusiasm, and we're not even playing rock music on fife and drum! So, thanks again 😁

Who says your beep boxing is stupid? That's the funnest thing you do! It's your signature! Your hook!

Mastervodo

That's awesome, just don't pay attention to the most watched spikes on progress bar.

Andrew Skow

I've had a little crush on Sarah Silverman since I first saw her on Star Trek: Voyager

Jen, yes the kids were playing for real. And for some fun extra credit, here’s a video of the group performing at a reunion: https://youtu.be/zLcqTLTohCU?si=0KNLvLCDYmvNitYs

If you watch the Tenacious D movie, you should check out the original HBO mini-series too. It's six 15-minute episodes. It's pretty great.

Excluding anything related to Tenacious D, this is my favorite Jack Black role. Note : I just found out that there is a three-season (2016-2018) Nickelodeon series based on the movie. I'm assuming it is horrible and will resist the urge to check it out.

Jumanji 2017 is easily and by far one of Jack Black's top performances, and even explaining it is kind of a small spoiler - except few people really ever would argue against what I've said. I personally love the new movies, and while I've seen the Robin Williams original, I never really ever vibed with it too much myself. The newer ones are amazing fun and don't require knowledge of the original though. Music-wise... Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny is a classic. Cult classic, even, although it kinda didn't do so hot critically, if you're into Tenacious D or that kind of music, you'll get plenty out of the movie. Still very quotable, still engrained in my mind.

High Fidelity is really good

This is just the perfect movie for you to react to. Your passion for the music, singing along (with the Star Trek Next Gen theme, for example), recognizing instruments and music cues, these are what make your reactions so special.

Mike Hart

I always loved how they broke the fourth wall in the credits. That little blond girl nailed it. So awesome! I always wished I had stuck with the saxophone, because it was so much fun to play. I also sing along with songs. At work I would tell people it was singing terrets, because so often I would start singing and not even realize it till someone said something. :D

The best lead in film to School of Rock's Dewey Finn character is High Fidelity co-starring Jack Black. (Another Cusack film, too.)

Cliff Adams

Thanks for reacting to this movie. Awesome. That's so cool this movie took you back to your music class days. Did you play clarinet? That nostalgia made this movie even better for you. I played trombone, and remember the feeling of the band playing as one -- I liked it. Agree with your positive comments about Jack Black and the kids. I bought the DVD for my son not long after the movie was released. My son has since commented that when he first watched the movie, the kids seemed old to him, and then a few years later, the kids were young to him. My son is a Richard Linklater fan. Linklater also directed "Dazed and Confused" (1993) and "Before Sunrise" (1995). Linklater lives just outside of Austin. My son lives in Austin and saw Linklater in an Austin grocery store earlier this year -- and said no one in the store seemed to recognize Linklater. A couple of months ago, I went to Linklater-owned indie like movie theater in Austin, which was cool.

Mike White (real Ned) wrote this specifically for Jack Black, and even though JB had already become a star by the time it eventually got made, I would say this definitely elevated his starpower to another level and across generations. Had a blast with this reaction, I figured you'd love it, definitely a fun 2 hours. Good luck with the copyright bots, not just the movie clips, but also the songs :-P

Kane

Despite all the great groups in the eighties, if I had to give my teacher a cassette (CDs were not popular yet) I would have given them something by The Cars, Billy Joel, or KISS, because they have always been the staples of my entire music history. I love everything, especially Jazz and SKA, but I always fall back on those three.

Fab reaction, lots of laughs and very endearing film. I've been lucky enough to have seen a bunch of the artists mentioned in this. 😀 Yes, Deep Purple, Robert Plant, Motorhead, AC/DC, The Sex Pistols, Bowie, Tenacious D, Whitney Houston. Paramore. I know they weren't mentioned but I just wanted to name drop them. 1:01:30 Zep - 'Immigrant Song' ♥ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg5eF4Ld-Fw 1:51:28 With all due respect, frig those people. And sing it to them. 🎶🎵🎤 'Nachos Libre' (2006) is very amusing and touching. J.B. plays a Mexican Catholic friar and secret lucha libre fan who moonlights as a luchador (masked wrestler) to earn money for the orphanage where he works. The Commitents (1991). Is a musical comedy, almost as good as The Blues Brothers. Very funny, awesome songs, superb performances... famous soul and Motown. Set in early 90s Ireland. High Fidelity is a good one with Jack Black. He isn't lead but has a large role.

Jeremy

'Shallow Hal' is a good Jack Black movie, from the Farrelly Brothers co-starring Gweneth Paltrow & Jason Alexander

Witchfinder General

Woohoo! I've been looking forward to all week. Volume set to 11. Press play! 🎵💥🎵

Cant wait to watch! Just found out two of the kids are actually married now, the blond singer and frankie, one of the band’s ‘security’
