🗳️ Poll: Star Trek TOS

Next 2 eps of Star Trek posting soon! I've been enjoying these episodes a lot and hope you guys are too!

Wondering, do we want to leave it at 10 episodes or do we want to vote on a few more eps to watch before checking out the movies?

Comments

But, Klingon boobies.

Thomas Yanez

The original series "TOS" is always a good watch. Even with dated effects it's the stories that make the show and the stories are just as topical today as they were in the 60's. There's some great groundbreaking TV in TOS. Television's first interracial kiss. We don't think anything about Lt. Uhura being African-American today, but to have a person of color as a main character in the 60's was highly controversial. She was not only African-American, but a woman, and she was an officer, not an orderly or some low wage laborer. This was only a couple years after MLK's march on Selma. It was a big deal.

John

Can you put The Beverly Hillbillies on a future poll,Who knows? :)

Celeste McAllister

Thanks for checking out Star Trek:TOS Jenny♡ I am enjoying watching along!...

Celeste McAllister

Thanks for the extra bonus Jen! It's good to know that the movie lovers aren't missing out on what they love.

Sean Novack

I tried with Discovery, but ultimately had to stop watching it.

ArsTropica

Why? There's literally no need. "Discovery" is not only an inferior product it intentionally breaks with established Star Trek precedent in order to try to score cheep social justice points. The vast majority of it is shoddily written and the acting is sub-par. I love "Strange New Worlds", but there's decades of material to catch up on before coming back to a series that is still in production.

Sean Novack

VI is a must watch as well. II, II, IV and VI.

RJ MacReady

...although I'd recommend watching a few selected episodes of ST:Discovery before watching Strange New Worlds.

Ken Schneyer

They are episodic, but there's more in-series consistency than in TOS. So there's one subplot that requires several episodes to understand, another subplot that requires another set of episodes. OTOH, some of the most artistically interesting TNG episodes are standalones, like "Who Watches the Watchers", "Darmok", "Cause and Effect", and "Conundrum", requiring no other episodes to understand. DS9, by contrast, is very much an arc, and it's important to follow the sequence. (Again, there are some tremendous stand-alone episodes, but they don't work as well without other episodes as background.)

Ken Schneyer

I have to agree. The first movie adds almost nothing, but the second one is the start of a sequence (movies 2-3-4) you really have to watch together.

Ken Schneyer

You can literally pick out any random episodes in TNG Seasons 3 and 4 and they're all pure gold.

Sonny Smith

They are episodic, however, there are events in certain episodes that come back to events that occurred in previous episodes. I know you'll do a poll on which ones to watch, but I'm just gonna throw my list out there anyway, lol. Season 1: -Encounter At Farpoint part 1 and 2 (pilot episode) -Datalore -Skin Of Evil -The Neutral Zone Season 2: -Contagion -The Measure of a Man -Q Who (must watch) -The Emissary Season 3: -The Enemy -The Defector -Deja Q -Yesterday's Enterprise -Sins of the Father -The Best of Both Worlds, part 1 (must watch) Season 4: -The Best of Both Worlds, part 2 (must watch) -Family (must watch) -Brothers -Reunion -The Wounded -The Mind's Eye -Redemption, part 1 Season 5: -Redemption, part 2 -Ensign Ro -Unification parts 1 and 2 -Cause and Effect -I, Borg Season 6: -Relics -Chain of Command parts 1 and 2 -Descent, part 1 Season 7: -Descent, part 2 -Preemptive Strike -All Good Things... parts 1 and 2 (series finale)

Dustin Denner

There is a new 2022 Star Trek series: "Star Trek Strange New Worlds" that you can totally appreciate now. Each episode is self contained, like the old 1966 series. It follows Capt. Pike, who ran the Enterprise before Kirk. Spock and Uhura were early crew members at that time. Pike makes an appearance in the very first episode of the old series "The Cage". "SNW" is an excellent series.

Mr. Writhms

Yes they are episodic. There are some excellent ones that highlight the most prolific villains of the series. I would suggest as a must watch minimum. You could then fill in whatever you have time for in between based on polls (These episodes/movie(s) would be tops in any poll I think). Encounter At Farpoint Part 1 and 2 (Series Premiere) Q-Who? The Best of Both Worlds Part 1 and 2 All Good Things Part 1 and 2 (Series Finale) Movies : First Contact The series lasted 7 years and there is a large amount of content there. There are episodes with appearances from many from TOS as well, I didn't list the but hey are all good imo

Kelvar Jadewalker

I'm really interested in checking out TNG at some point. We will do some polls. Are they episodic like TOS?

Jen M

Personally I would love to see The Next Generation content brought in. I would recommend staying with the 10 OS episodes, then getting into the movies with the original cast before finishing with the modern sequels of Into Darkness and Beyond. Then bring in a sample of the TNG shows and movies. While the fan base isn't as vocal as TOS fans a lot of the content is very good I would submit :)

Kelvar Jadewalker

I would be down for some "the next generation" or "voyager" episodes :)

Lean

ST The Motion Picture 🥱😴😴😴 the original show is where it’s at!

James Quinn

Hey Jen, I love your reactions and am really enjoying your Star Trek TOS reactions. Thank you for doing them. Yes, please, more Trek reactions!

Ron

Hey Jen,thanks for your reply!-;) But....it´s ok to have a different opinion, isn´t it? I just express my opinion and when it comes to TV Shows and reacting it´s a clear thing. I know....it´s unpopular. But would it be better if anyone would only just praise everything? I like your channel and your reactions a lot! I really do. Everytime my cell beeps and there´s news from "Patreon" I get excited. And then......oh another episode of ..........! Damn.........ok.....wait for the next (movie). You see.....that´s where I come from. -;) And now pls relax and for god´s sake go and buy champagne for the next movie reaction! -;) -;) -;)

Matt B.

Lol I'm not trying to get out of anything. This poll is a direct result of mixed feedback I'm getting on the decision to watch 10. I'd like to do what majority are interested in watching, except I can't commit to the entire series right now

Jen M

Why do I have the feeling that this poll is really just Jen thinking "I really want to watch more of these episodes because they're so great, but I said I was going to just watch 10. How do I get to watch more after saying just 10 episodes?" My answer: you can always decide to watch more before going on. It's your channel...

Chris Biebel

I do shows here as an extra bonus for Patrons and because I like reacting to shows. Sorry you're not enjoying!

Jen M

"Arena" would be fun because of the super cheese, the iconic battle music, and it serves to inform one of my favorite jokes/references in "Galaxy Quest".

Thomas Yanez

If I don't like a movie you are reacting to,I just don't watch. That's simple and I only miss out on a little bit. -> If I don't like a TV Show you are reacting to,I don't watch and miss out on a lot. For me personally it's an easy decision: Stop reacting to TV Shows 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ But well.....who am I,right?!

Matt B.

Journey to Babel is a must.

Max du Coudray

Hm, I do wish The Tholian Web, The Corbomite Maneuver, and Journey to Babel were in the list. I might ask for 5 more TOS episodes just to get them... (I think another 10 is too much though.) ARENA is also a fun pick.

SuicuneSol

I just uped my tier to watch your trek reactions but I guess I have to figure out the sync thing! ;) …i voted for more episodes… but agree you could go to the episode Space Seed then jump to the 2nd move: Wrath of Khan… then Search for Spock… and Voyage Home… all make one incredible story! I don’t agree that you shouldn’t see the 1st film… it’s an ambitious space opera and I love it… but II, III & IV first (V is a judgment call).

Jeff Preiss

If you decide to do more episodes, I would recommend a swap. After the 10 episodes you already plan to watch, watch 4 more rather than watch the first movie. That first movie almost sank the franchise. I would skip it and go straight to the second movie.

Paul Patine

Errand Of Mercy is a good one!

RJ MacReady

Keep going! LLAP! 🖖

Absolute0

Hope that City on the Edge of Forever is among them.

MaskOfBorro

IMO, TNG is when Trek fully comes into its own. It's set almost a century after the original series begins. If you appreciate the evolution of Bond films over time, you'll most likely enjoy seeing how things have progressed in Trek universe in TNG.

ArsTropica

Space Seed was posted last week - it was awesome! City of the Edge of Forever and Amok Time will be this week. Doomsday Machine and Mirror Mirror next week, Trouble with Tribbles and Enterprise Incident week after

Jen M

I'm not sure which TOS episodes you are watching...hope they include: "The Enemy Within".."Trouble With Tribbles".."Amok Time"..."Journey To Babel"..."The Doomsday Machine"..."Space Seed" and more....there are many incredible episodes of "Star Trek Next Generation" and the entire series of "Deep Space Nine" is my very favorite. A lot of good Trek out there Jen.
