I loved this one so much I had to invent a rating system to give it the maximum rating lol! I was already a big fan of murder mysteries, the game Clue and a few of the actors, but on top of that, the stylishness, music, costumes, pacing, sets, lighting, framing - everything - was all perfection for me!! Really had a blast watching this one, hope you guys did too!

This movie really shows how to use payoff in writing. Nearly every detail, from the baseball (that Richard threw out the window), to the stash, and nearly all prominent dialogue, like the secret language, the knife comment, Hugh's name, etc, end up coming back around as relevant to the story. 'Brick', 'Looper, and 'The Brothers Bloom' are also excellent examples of Rian Johnson's skill when he has control over the film.

2022-08-25 06:13:34 +0000 UTCThis is a great modern film of the classic whodunit. Glad that you enjoyed it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it honestly. There were a lot of Agatha Christie adaptations of her various Sleuth character stories on telly when I was growing up. So my affections for these style stories are much informed by countless examples. No doubt the recommendations for modern productions have been and will be forthcoming. You mentioned Clue yourself. That's obviously based on the board game with is actually called Cluedo here in the UK, where it was invented. From the Latin Ludo for l play! As it was inspired by the Agatha Christie Novels. Personally I'd love it if you were to watch an older production before seeing a modern one. I'll admit I'm biased. The Miss Marple character played by Margaret Rutherford brings back fond memories. โขMurder She Said (1961) which is based on 4.50 from Paddington is just one example. 2022-08-17 20:37:40 +0000 UTCAnother great who-done-it spoofing the mystery genre Is Murder by Death (1976) Similar to knives, however, I would say Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022) both of these were written by Agatha Christie and have the same detective Hercule Poirot. Star-Studded cast in all three.
