Just finished up this series this evening. It is a lot of fun and does do well in calling back to the look and feel of a more popular era. I do have a bit of a problem connecting to the central characters with this. That's just my issue. I do appreciate the production values a lot. I did enjoy your protective instincts towards Baby Yoda. Unfortunately I have a somewhat involuntary catchphrase affliction carried over from the 90's. I grew up on children's television presenters being paired with a squeaking puppet. The various duo's would present the afternoon's television shows. This was then parodied by comedian Brian Conley. Who'd whack his co-presenter Larry the Loafer with a club. Screaming back at the audience after their cries of sympathy. "IT'S A PUPPET!" https://youtu.be/iZf7o5_Z_dg So I may have called this out a few times while watching. 🤣🤣

Thanks for the info! I'm sure I'll see Clone Wars eventually 👍 Really looking forward to seeing what The Boys is all about now!

Late to the party bc work was rough, but glad you got to experience and enjoy it. Season 1 works very well as a complete story, and you can totally get into it with just the first six movies and rogue one. The finale caps it all off in heartwarming fashion and drops enough to pitch season 2: Moff Gideon lives, and Mando has a mission to return Baby yoda to a Jedi The finale also exemplifies how Mandalorian let’s each director add their own flavor to their episode. This episode was directed by Taika Waititi, who also voiced IG-11. His known for a particularly irreverent brand of quirky humor and violence, which is evident right from the jump in the scout trooper scenes. Other notes: - Cara Dunne is from Alderaan, which explains why she hates the Empire and joined mando as soon as he mentioned he was fighting an Imp. It also explains why she quit the Rebellion when it got too political, as she just wanted to keep fighting them. - moff Gideon’s title of moff shows he has elite status that is not purely military. moff is given to those that wield some sort of governing power; the other moff we have seen on screen is Grand Moff Tarkin, who commanded the Death Star in A new Hope. Din also tells us Gideon ran the imperial security bureau (ISB), which is the empire’s intelligence division and does all sorts of nasty things - the troopers with black armor were Death Troopees, as seen in a rogue one - the flame trooper was a character type created in one of the Star Wars video games, showing that Favreau and Filoni are nerds that will pull from all areas of Star Wars - the hovering transport that delivered Gideon’s troop in ep 7 is actually called the Imperial Troop Transport. It was never in the movies but in the 80’s, the toy company Kenner needed a medium size Star Wars vehicle to sell, so….this was conceptualized and sold as a toy, thus proving Filoni and Favreau aren’t just nerds but GIANT NERDS that we love Here’s my sales pitch for Clone Wars/Rebels and how there are, even in season 1, massive connections: 1) the completed flashbacks show us that Din Djarin, our Mando, was orphaned by a droid attack on his hometown (unknown), but ultimately saved by a group of Mandalorians wearing distinctive blue armor with distinctive white colored, clawed sigils. This is a very specific group of Mandalorians introduced in Clone Wars, fairly early on. This also establishes that his child hood was during the same era as the clone wars show 2) Gideon talks of The Great Purge, the Siege of Mandalore, and the Night of A Thousand Tears. While we meet Boba Fett and Jango fett in the movies, wearing Mandalorian armor, the movies told us nothing of Mandalore and it’s people. Clone Wars is where the history of the planet and people first gets established, and it is a continuing through line for Clone Wra and Rebels and leads heavily into season 2 of Mandalorian, and very likely season 3 3) that black laser sword that Gideon used to cut his way out of the wreck? It’s a unique lightsaber with a black blade. It doesn’t just look rad, it is a massively important artifact, again introduced in Clone Wars, followed thru Rebels, and shows up on season 2. Think of its importance as similar to Excalibur to King Arthur in British lore. Seeing it on screen was basically a brain smashing moment for clone wars viewers 4) Jon Favreau voices a Mandalorian in Clone Wars called Pre Viszla; working on the show is where he met Dave Filoni. It’s basically the moment when The Mandalorian was born. It was destiny 5) there are people in Clone Wars/Rebels that …have strong relevance in Mando s2, and I really can’t say how important without spoiling 200 combined episodes is also, but they’re only 20 min each. Even if you don’t react, it’s….pretty important to check out at some point. Before s2 is ideal, after s2 for sure Onwards to the Boys, which…has a very different tone =P

Oh thats' right!!! I'm excited for that one too :)

Ah, you watched Predator? Excellent :) Yep, you're right - that's Pedro Pascal, the Red Viper of Dorne from Game of Thrones. Yeah literally don't think there's anyone here that doesn't want you to continue with Mandalorian - just not yet. There's so little of it, it should be savoured :) Obi-wan starts soon as well, now that should be interesting...
