The Silence of the Lambs (1991) Full Length Reaction

You won't wake up in the dark ever again to that awful screaming of the lambs.

Ohhh boy, this was another one (like Se7en) that I have long avoided but I was feeling brave enough to watch it and was surprised to find I liked it! Definitely not a movie I'd usually choose but the characters were so great I couldn't help but get into it. Still gross though lol!

Thank you to all of you for hanging out and watching with me!

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) Full Length Reaction

Comments

"Well, Clarice - have the lambs stopped screaming?" Jodie Foster I recommend TAXI DRIVER (1976) [AFI Top 100], which has a 12-year old Jodie Foster and a young Robert De Niro. --Nominated for Best Picture Oscar. --Foster and De Niro each nominated for an Oscar.

I'm glad I watched this with you, I like your reaction to this. I think you need to get back to this character and watch 'Hannibal' which is a sequel to this, and 'Red Dragon', which takes place 8 years before the events of this movie. You need to finish this series.

That was excellent, great reaction. I'd only seen your YT edit previously. Dr. Lecter is one of the most iconic villains of the big screen - terrifying but paradoxically magnetic, the books are highly recommended and give a much greater insight into the characters of the story. For example in one of the novels it states that Lecter's IQ is "not calculable by any means yet known to man". I can't recommend highly enough the tv series, Hannibal (2013-2015), it has 3 seasons. The actor cast as Hannibal is absolutely perfect, I wouldn't have thought that anyone could have contended with Hopkins' Lecter. I was wrong. The actor cast as Lecter's nemesis, the man who caught him; Special Agent Will Graham is also outstanding. I'd recommend watching the three Hopkins films first and then the Lecter origin movie before moving on to the tv series. Red Dragon (2002) <-- set 8 years before the events in SofL. Silence of the Lambs (1991) βœ… Hannibal (2001) <-- set 10 years after Lecter's escape in SotL. Hannibal Rising (2007 / origin story) Perhaps you could put Red Dragon on a poll during October. Dare you return to Dr. Lecter's world? πŸ’œ

🀣🀣🀣 No it's something Chandler once quipped about, when Monica was doing the catering for Carol and Susan's wedding. She couldn't decide between lamb or duck.

Daryl

LOL that's not true is it?! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Thanks Gary! I am definitely interested in seeing that movie!

A full afternoon... Hacksaw Ridge followed by Silence of the lambs. Probably should have done them in the other order really. I've seen this film a few times. I agree I'd have to give the top award to the Welshman as well. He steals the show. The only other film I've seen that's centred around this character, is Red Dragon. Which I remember my first impression was, I liked it more. But that was years ago and I've not seen it since. Of course Lambs are the scarier animal. The working title of Silence of the Ducks, didn't get popular feedback. (I said I'd pepper in other refs from time to time, if they came to mind.) 😜

You should also check out Philadelphia. A completely different kind of movie, but the same director did it, and it still captures that same very personal psychological space. Starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington, it's a powerhouse of a movie. Great reaction, and I must say, it was interesting watching your opinion of Hannibal evolve over the course of the movie. Good stuff!

Agreed, Matt N is the awesomest dude! 😊

Is it okay if I ALSO leave a special thanks to Matt N who is an awesome dude?
